OK thanks Ernie. I guess I'll have to try to play test this situation one of these days. Oh, and just to clarify, your couple of points both refer to defending in melee. In my situation I'd be using horse arty coming up from the rear and deploying to complete the isolation. What I fear is that if th...

Hi all,
I'm on the move and I'm able to surround and isolate an enemy unit that is disrupted and within command range of it's leader. So, will a unit that just became isolated get the benefit of being within command range on it's next turn when checking on recovery from disruption?

Colonel Lane,

It's brilliant of you to recognize how wisely I've chosen. Well done, Sir.

I would be more than happy to cross swords with you any time any where you deem fitting.

Hi, In the early stages of a solo game I usually manage to return 1-2 moves a day but as the armies assemble and become engaged I slow down to 1-2 moves per week. I prefer all options on EXCEPT Manual Defensive Fire, Artillery Capture, and Weak Zones of Control. However, all options of course are op...

Welcome Gen Sands. I just heard from Zafer Ejder and he's agreed to throw in with us Yanks as well. So now we're just waiting on the Rebs!

Welcome Andrew. Ok so that's two a side so far. How long do we wait for two more players? Suppose we give it 24 hrs and then we might considers going with an appropriate scenario for a two men per side battle. OTOH, if one more Reb shows up I've heard from a Yank who is willing to step in if he's ne...

Lt. Gen. Matthews, I'd love to take a look at your two scenarios. Also, I could use some practice at sending and receiving files since I've been away so long. So if you'd care to send them at this early point then please do: billci54@hotmail Capt. Crist, As far as I'm concerned welcome aboard. You'r...

I'm recently returned to active duty. My only title is HPS Gettysburg. I very much prefer MP battles and you can count me in on the Union side if that is suitable. I can usually return my move on the same day as it's received.

Thank you all for your kind responses. I think I now have enough information to try a game. I intend to intervene and get the AI on the right track in the situations listed ie cav attacking like inf, inablity to use bridges/fords, moving along roads, needlessly delaying attacks, etc. I suppose I can...

Hi all, I've been away from the game for a while and I've deceided to try out the A/I Commander Control feature. The manual/help files don't have much in the way of details on how it operates and I've has no luck trying to play A/I Commander Control v.s A/I Commander Control. Does anyone know where ...

My new PC is running windows 7 64 bit OS. I installed my only title, John Tiller's HPS Gettysburg. Version 1.0 is up and running but I can't get the patch, Gettysburg 105 exe installed. The website says to save the file to the desktop and then extract it to Campaign Gettysburg. I don't have the WinZ...

"The main effect of using strong zones is it allows a defender to use the alternating hex defense and hold a line with it." As a Union player, this has always been my strategy. It seems to work well against melee happy Confederate opponents. My Corps usually don't have as long a front as m...

Things jelled faster then expected. Doug Shaw originally told he'd be on vacation from 7-16 to 7-23 and I thought he'd return before we got started. Maybe another Reb will show up before he returns. In the mean time perhaps the two side can get started on agreeing on rules and scenareo. I usually pl...
