Yes Sir, I was referring to day one numbers. Perhaps all Lee needed to do on day one was play traffic cop and see that Anderson's division reached the field in a timely enough manner to make the taking of that hill practicable.

Supply wagon speed can be adjusted to equal that of artillery in the pdt file.

Can I be the only one who thinks Lee was not just being gentlemanly when he said, "Its all my fault"? He was telling the truth! Lee mismanaged the battle throughout. He outnumbered his enemy but kept his commanders on a short leash worried about bringing on a general engagement on day one....

(Another great BtL edition.) The casualty estimates proffered in this article favor the Rebs mor than do more modern researches. I accept Robert E. Lee's judgement demonstrated in his famous quote, "We must destroy this army of Grant's before he gets to the James River. If he gets there it will...

I also have read about Shiloh. It is unfortunate that the second day is usually treated as a brief postcript to the battle of the first day. Grant and Buell weren't exactly Marlborough and Eugene, but they managed to drive the enemy from the field. I'd like to be able to read more about day two at S...

There are also Rifles and Muskets and Shotguns, oh my to choose from.

Giving A rated Reb cav the same weapons as most C rated Union cav does not simulate the firepower superiority the north had. By 1864, the Reb cav, for various reasons was not superior to the Union cav at all.

"By now, Confederate cavalry just about all had some form of breechloading carbine, whether captured or made south of the Mason-Dixon." Longacre, Lee's Cavalrymen , pp.38-40 disagrees. On page 40 he states, "Carbine toting Confederates in the main theater of operation were mostly arme...

I've been looking at the Myer's Hill_A9 scenario. With mud conditions I had expected movement on roads and trails to be slowed for infantry columns (movement effect 150 as in Campaign Waterloo). While slowed off road, movement rate is unaffected on roads and trails.

Is this working as designed?

Starting the scenario and getting to turn 2, I notice, as expected, the Reb ammo supply increases when Pelham's arty units enter the map. Working as Designed, it seems.

I couldn't resist a peek, as I've been reading up with Rhea and others on the campaign. I'm curious how the different pdt versions have played out. I'm guessing the 30 minute lower firepower version is better for long campaigns. I notice the wilderness2 oob has my Vermont Brigade and others 5 rated ...

I must be missing something. If you increase firepower factors so arty can fire more effectively on defense, doesn't it also fire more effectively on offense?

"Weapon.dat" is a file used to name weapons in each of the HPS Nappy titles. With a one size fits all file naming weapons for all games, the ACW series doesn't allow me to do something like name Rebel arty types, with poorer mid and long range fire ability than their northern counterparts...

This is as good a place as any to state my opinion that morale values excessively favor the Rebs.

For the longest time, after my first HPS Civil War wargame purchase, I boycotted the series because of the locked oobs. The game engine changes, with optional rules caused me to dive in, but I still miss editing oobs. Is there any chance that some time in the not too distant future, oobs will become...
