Thanks for the link to Sprague's book on the 13th Connecticut. I have a reprint of the book and was awae of it. I put the link in my favorites which will make quick reference easier.

It would appear to me that "if" a bridge was able to be destroyed across a stream a moving unit should at least take the movement penalty that would apply to an unbridged stream. But to not allow the bridge to be destroyed at all makes no sense!
