Hi, Rich, So good to hear from you! I fear I no longer have time to playtest, but as it happens there is a segment of the club (not including me) that feels you blew it on rating units for the Shiloh game and insulted the Army of the Tennessee in the process. If you have the time and inclination per...

You will have to cite a reference about the Army of the Mississippi was routed from the field Never read any such thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Shiloh Although Beauregard claimed in his report that “never did troops leave a battle-field in better order,” the remarkable cohesion the...

It appears to me Blake's opinion is that combat experience automatically makes a unit better than one without that experience. Needless to say, I disagree. The bottom line is that a Rebel force roughly equal to the Yankee force attacked and drove the Yankee force back to the bluffs overlooking the ...

I don't get how you can say the ratings should be based on the battle itself as opposed to the performance of the unit leading up to the battle. As Blake said in sports you rate teams based on their performance before the game and then only reevaluate after the game. If we are refighting history th...

I think that has been the standard for as long as I have played these games, over 25 years.

The probabilities for leader casualties is listed in parameter data and has nothing to do with the results of the melee.

The first letter is his command rating. However, should he fail his command test his rating then becomes the one in parentheses (it will be coloured yellow when he fails). I think you're on the right track, but it appears to me that the letter in parentheses is the original command rating and the f...

Downloaded the 4.02 update midgame in Chickamauga. Two of my artillery units were captured but ultimately recaptured. Found out the situation is reversed from previous versions of the game. Now the original owner has to occupy the uncrewed guns instead of the capturing player! Further, I ran tests a...

Thanks, Rich. This feature exceeded my highest expectations.

Not a tutorial per se, but I think the Scenario Editor Help File explains how to use it pretty well.

Left-click on it and the zip icon will appear.

I am putting the question directly to Rich Hamilton at the WDS forum (for some reason I can't currently post). Although this situation can easily be handled with a house rule, it would be better otherwise. Maybe it was rectified, but never documented. At the same time, although this might be better...

I view objective hexes as a necessary evil to account for historical realities that can't be reflected in a scenario due to the limitations of the game.

I like playing the Rebs because it usually seems more challenging. When I win, I usually feel a sense of accomplishment.

Does depend on the scenario though!
