In my readings, i came upon a description wherein a cannon was captured,spiked, then changed hands and unspiked and re-used again. I tried to find the definition of "spiking" on the internet but was unsuccessful. It probably was used as a generic term, as anyway to disable a cannon from firing, but ...

The turns are fortnightly (2 per month and go until May,1865 I believe although I've never finished a game. they can extend longer if the players want. that would make 24 turns a year but they aren't numbered in the game itself. Tactical turns are 20 minutes/turn but they go on for two days I believ...

Just readL "Passing of the Armies" by Joshua Chamberlain. His style is sometimes difficult to read but his discription of the last days of the war and the surrender ceremony are woth reading.
