Hi, Captain, I think most times nobody bothered with spiked guns until the winner salvaged them after the battle. Everybody had more important things to worry about at the time than cannon that wouldn't work. Maybe someday they will implement an option where you can unspike a spiked gun, but I doubt... |

Hi, General Tom,
I can relate, being retired myself. If it wasn't for the club, I might as well go back to work. Also lost too many friends and family over the years. I will remember you and your family in my prayers.

Hi, Capt Sickbert, The problem with blitz has to do with the nature of the IGO-UGO system we have. What happens is the moving player moves troops from the rear their full movement allowance, pushes a blocking unit out of the way, and then marches their front troops full movement through the gap, wit... |

Hi, Ernie,
That was fascinating! Don't know where they got their casualty figures from, but it was interesting to watch how they fluctuated.

Hi, Bill,
I put them in the Peninsula folder and they make a big difference. Thanks! The trails are much easier to see. Of course, they might be confused with railroads, but until we get choochoos it won't make a difference.[:D]

Hi, I think the HPS system has come a long way in its treatment of night. In the beginning, night combat was encouraged because of the severe morale penalty for night morale checks, a penalty I never agreed with, particularly since it applies to morale checks from the last dusk turn but on its merit... |

Hi, I brought up the Falling Waters and Falling Waters-No Fords maps and tested. Both maps allow column movement down the road by the lake. But if you try to change to line in the hex, it says "no changing formation on bridges" or something like that. So I guess the hex is considered a water hex and... |

Hi, Dave, I think the comments by everyone about Chickamauga/Chattanooga are very valid. What I would suggest is, if you have the time, plan your route to go through Ft Donelson and Murfreesboro as well. Both are preserved battlefields, unlike Chattanooga. Neither will take much of your time. If you... |

Hi,
I think units recover 10% of losses in the next scenario of a campaign. If they were eliminated, they get back 20%. A section of two guns, if it is eliminated, will come back as one gun. I can't recall where the documentation is that explains it though.

I will usually look over a scenario in manual mode before I ever play it to see if I think it is a fairly even match, and I expect my opponent to do the same. Years ago I liked to play the South Mountain scenario in BG Antietam. Never had problems finding Yank opponents as the scenario was viewed by... |

What Bill said. And Col B also. The Confederates overran a number of Union guns on the second day at Gettysburg but couldn't keep them. Union troops recaptured and re-manned the guns with the original crews, because the crews had the sense to abandon the guns before they took a serious manpower loss... |
