As I said above, "the ratings in the game are related to very specific things". In terms of those specific things Lee's ability and application never wavered. Consequently, he should have very high ratings for 'Leadership' and 'Command'. But, Paul, in another thread you wrote, "The '...

Lee did worse than usual in Gettysburg. However, the question is the lack of appropriate game mechanics. It is hard to say Command Ranking is a proper mechanic to show such a bad performance of generals like Lee in Gettysburg. The JTS/WDS doesn't have a good enough mechanic or doesn't have at least...

Have members fought Gettysburg 100 times head to head in the club? Is there a way to get a report on it from the DoR? Would be interesting to see a report. Not just Gettysburg either. Be interesting to know which battles both sides historically are better in the club and if it matches real life res...

I think the ratings should remain unchanged. Command Rating This rating is essentially used to determine if Disrupted units become un-Disrupted that turn. I do not see that Lee ever lessened in this respect, either personally or in his ability to influence his subordinates in that regard. Lee had h...

@Karl McEntegart & @Scott Ludwig

Crown of Glory looks interesting. Do either of you have any other comments, or tips, about it?

Didn't realize it was real-time, not a fan of that either. WEGO doesn't necessarily bother me, but I'm not interested in "twitchy" games anymore. I own WinE and WitE2, but not WitW. I find that even though it seems super complicated, you don't need to make it so. You can dive into every w...

Have either of you played Forge of Freedom? Its on sale and Im considering it. Quaama: Have you played War in the East 2 yet? I'm sorry for the delay in responding. I somehow overlooked your post [I only noticed it when I saw a new post in this thread and went back to see where I last visited it]. ...

I like that the computer does it. On a real battlefield the next senior man would take over. You cant stop battle and say, hey now your in command. Its not football, cant just put a new QB in on the fly. Sometimes I believe we have too much control over the battle field in these games. I know anoth...

The referral to chess is a good one. Consider the amount of effort, and time, it took before a machine could defeat the most capable humans. Chess, although complex has nowhere near the variables a wargame has (and each game/scenario is different with different variables). A quote ( https://www.ches...

It worked in the Peninsula, it worked at 2nd Manassas, it would have worked at Sharpsburg but for SO191 . An interesting aspect of that order, and a few others, is that when there are matters of welfare they precede any more military matters [191(I) - citizens, 191(II) - sick and wounded, 191(III-I...

Based upon the raw numbers facing each other in the east and the west it must be the AotP. When the industrial might of the Union is also added to their tally the AotP clearly failed in a much bigger way.

Looks excellent. The Equal Force Challenge shines brightly [no more complaints about perceived imbalance]. It should be a true test of wargaming skills.

"On emerging from the woods, we encountered a charge of cavalry. When my section was made aware of the enemy’s approach, the cavalry was not fifteen yards distant. The command "Gallop” was then given, and the rout was made in the greatest confusion. Previous to our encounter, several regim...

That's an odd one. I suspect it was done due the game engine having no provision for a leader above the level of Army Commander. The game ranks Grant as an Army Commander but with no army under his command and, as Blake says, "Grant is a supernumerary". Additionally, the game fixes Grant i...
