Since I'm involed the the game Boyd is talking about, I've been giving those choices some thought. I agree that a seige would not be a game per se, but Grant did in fact hit the defenses twice before settling on a seige. Perhaps then a series of engagements to see if Grant could 'shorten the war'? A...

General, I don't see where any supply wagons or leaders are involved on a technical point. Now, should the cavalry cover roads at night? Well, that's what I would expect them to do historically. I played a Corinth game once where my opponent used his cavalry to do what you are doing during day and e...

I know all the buzz is about Atlanta and Chickamauga at the moment, but if any of you Rebs are looking a short campaign at Pea Ridge (Ozark) or a bigger one on the Peninsula, send a courier to my tent with preferences. Typically I play with most options on, but am very flexible in this regard. With ...

I see Mulligan and his Irish Regiment need some help from a Union commander at 05-Lexington. Since I'm Union, a little Irish, and maybe nuts, I'll volunteer for a dashing last stand. Faugh An Ballagh! Col. Boyd has presented some very ingenious enhancements here. I have recently started playing some direct caller games, and they are a great way to play HPS games, and I think a great way to make the multi-player experience even better. Not actually 'seeing' what your other corps commanders are doing wo...

In terms of a campaign, I think the following would be interesting:

1 - Jackson's Valley Campaign of 1862
2 - Second Bull Run
3 - Grant versus Lee 1864 (Battle Royale!)

As someone has already said, thanks for the post requesting input.

Thanks for the info Phil. Just one note. This gets us past the .btc error, but units seem to be recharged to full strength because the data from previous battles has been lost. Does the problem itself (the .btc error) sound like a bug, or a corrupted file. I've never encountered it before in other c...

Gents, I've been playing a pbem Vicksburg campaign and after two battles, we received an error going into the 3rd strategic phase (listed below). Has anyone seen this one before in a campaign game?? We have been trouble shooting it on different computers, have tried replaying turns before the strate...

Gents, I ran across this site a few weeks ago after an obscure reference in North and South magazine. It is a one hour weekly talk show where contemporary authors are interviewed about their work on the Civil War. There is also an archive of programs going back to 2004, many which can be downloaded ...

After reading many of the replies to this posting, I realized that many of you were having some of the same thoughts I was having. I like the forced march idea with additional fatigue. And just a thought, if there is a Stonewall Campaign, this would even seem necessary to simulate what was possible ...

Gentlemen of the South, I'm looking for a few short games for the Holiday season. I'm interested in the following, but would be willing to consider something else under 20 turns if you have a suggestion for these three HPS titles. Franklin: <fon...
