Hell, if Grant had been at Antietam the Civil War would have been over by Christmas 1862.

I would tend to agree with the effectiveness of counter-battery fire, particularly if you are using the quality fire modifiers and with some of the games, i.e. Rich Walker designed. I played Grand Battle (hypothetical Battle of Frankfort) and the Reb batteries had devastating effect at medium to lon... |

Gettysburg vandalism triggers outrage -$36,000 reward for defilers "We all hope you will secure the maniac who injured the monuments. Unless he was insane, a rope's end would be the proper thing for him." - R.B. Reath http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06059/662304.stm Col Ed Lytwak 2/2/XV/AoT/USA |

I'm playing 8a - 7 Days (407 turns) for the second time and find CPP a very good historical model - i particularly like that the forces have a good mix of quality, even it it tends to the lower morale as seems historically appropriate. The first game ended quite prematurely on the afternoon of Day 1... |

I too was engaged with Tom Barber last summer in a rousing Campaign Peninsula game only to recently find out about his tragic death. Although I only new him through the commraderie of cyberspace, he was a worthy and skilled opponent and more importantly a very fine person, with a clear love of Civil... |

Looking for Reb opponent in HPS Gettysburg or Peninsula (not campaign game). Open to most scenarios, all optional rules except manual d-fire. My preference is the monster 7 Days Campaign scenario 08a or one of the variants. I started this one last year but my Reb opponent vanished without a trace be... |

I'm currently playing 7 Days Battle with these house rules. 1. Infantry can melee only from battleline except through hexes that would disrupt or prohibit line formation movement, i.e. town, marsh, abbattis, bridge. 2. Leaders, wagons, limbered artillery cannot block retreat for melee. 3. Units used ... |

I've played 3 Gettysburg campaigns, one Corinth and the first game of a Franklin campaign (some advice on Springhill for the Yanks, don't try to win this one by holding ANY objectives). By far, i liked the Gettysburg campaigns the best. I played the Corinth campaigns against a very superior opponent... |

Yank, looking for Reb to find out if McClelland could have really taken Richmond in June 1862. Full 7 days campaign, 407 turns. At Reb's discretion either CPP 8a or 8c turn play, all optional rules. Prefer Reb who is experienced and comfortable with all aspects of turn play. Can commit to 2-3 turns ... |

I use Trend Micro which seems to be pretty good and includes spyware debugging. Switched to TM last year after it picked up some viruses that Norton missed.

Without a doubt, Ben "The Beast" Butler was the best Yankee general. Certainly the most maligned, his visionary occupation of New Orleans and the use of "contra-band" were the models for modern warfare and occupation armies everywhere. As far as the rebs are concerned, the better question is who is ... |

At that point in the war of rebellion it would have probably been someone like Jubilation T. Cornpone or some other officer of similar ability to Lee.

Not knowing what is going on plus the enemy's strength and intentions is a lot of the fun of playing new unfamiliar campaign scenarios. Given the campaign game format, I've found that following three general guidelines usually works well for me: 1. Forget about the objectives until you figure out wh... |
