Hi, Mark, Sounds like a fascinating game, but is it the Civil War? I have read all the AARs with great interest, and in every one it seems that the South plays the whole game on the strategic defensive. It seems that Lee's two invasions of the north would be suicidal. After getting burned with the A... |

Hi, Hank,
I tend to agree with your assessment of the book, but I suspect maybe that other fellow did the writing and Newt used his name to sell the book. Speaks to character rather than IQ, imho. Or lack thereof.

Hi, Bill, Your recommendations have merit, and some have been discussed before, particularly the recommendation that the guns belong to the last side that occupied them. Unfortunately, a lot of times posting on this forum is like banging your head against a stone wall. Fortunately, Rich Walker will ... |

Hi, Bill, Most of this has been discussed ad infinitum. You get full points if you capture the guns AND occupy them at the end of the scenario. Ditto spiked guns, only you get half points. The advantage of spiking guns is that you deny their use to your opponent during the scenario. In a campaign, c... |

About forty years ago I read "The History of Rome Hanks", written in 1944. At the time I enjoyed it. Here is a review. The big guns of U.S. newspaper book reviewing greeted Rome Hanks last fort night with the most thunderous salvo that has welcomed a first novel since Gone With The Wind. It was a "s... |

During the Corinth battle the guns at Battery Robinette were turned completely around to help repel troops who had penetrated into the town. On the other hand, at Ft Macon, en barbette (on top of the wall) had tracks that allowed them to rotate in a 180 degree arc. Guns in casements had much more li... |

Hi, Quality fire/melee modifier-yes, I believe elite troops were more efficient in their fire and melee. Higher fatigue recovery rate-While up to now I have used this, I have come to believe that the lower recovery rate is probably more realistic. Rout limiting-I have always used this, and I think f... |

Hi, Haven't got that far in a Gettysburg campaign, but Doug Strickland put together a huge number of scenarios when he designed this game. There is no way all of them could have been adequately playtested. Some are pretty unbalanced, imho, such as 2nd Winchester, but that doesn't make it ahistorical... |
