Doug:

There doesn't seem to be any Rebels willing to play Overland. I'll play the Rebs if you would like to try a scenario.

Sir:

I couldn't find a Reb officer and if one fails to answer your challenge, I am available for a maneuver.

I will happily introduce you to any medium or short scenario of your choice. Several turns per week is typical.

If no Rebs show up, I'm happy to play the Rebs in a maneuver.

I can destroy my opponent through application of numbers but I cannot beat him through better play? Sir: You may remain unconvinced that the ANV's high quality rating leads to better outcome without sacrificing historical reality. But I can assure you that Union Army's role as the aggressor in 1864...

Mr. Wales: I commend you on your mode of play. I also like to play blind with minimal intelligence of the scenario. It makes it all the more fun. Campaign Overland provides the Rebels with protective terrain and defensive works that provide them a fighting chance at a victory. The big battles have o...

I should start a new thread for designer notes on Campaign Overland but let me pick up the conversation here: 1. Rebel Supermen (A Quality Units) - What this really comes down to is playability. Historically, the ANV generally held their defensive positions even when facing extreme odds. There were ...

Lee did not want to fight at Gettysburg, but after the tactical victory of the first day, he did not want to deprive his men of a major victory. Remember, Lee was looking for a knockout blow, not little victories. He thought that he had gained the advantage. BG Ken 'Muddy' Jones 5th Brig/3rd Cav Div...

Congratulation Gentlemen:

Of course they are all supporters of the Union! What? You were expecting a Reb to be in the finals?

<i>Douglas Freeman surmises in "Lee's Lieutenants" that after his marriage, Ewell loses the power of decision."He cannot exercise the descretion allotted him". I guess you have to insult the Rebels in order to get them to fight. Here goes: "Jeff Davis' mother wears army boots! With a 'US' brand stamped on them!" That should bring the cowards out.[xx(]

Sir: This variant that you suggest has the entire Union Army "fixed" except for Hooker's and Mansfield's men -- while the entire CSA Army is free to move. That's not very fair. If you would care to play a more balanced affair, then perhaps that could arranged. BG Ken 'Muddy' Jones 5th Brig/3rd Cav D...

Well, I think the guys have pretty much summed it up. Terrible traffic, high cost of living, and all the other pains that go along with big city life. On the other, the federal district in D.C. is beautiful, there is lots of culture and nightlife, good food, big city sports, outdoor activities, a me...
