Ken:

I checked the file. It is the correct one. 594 KB and 2/19/2002.

All I can think of now is a corrupted file on the original disk? If that is the case I'm sunk.

Ken:

Ok, when I take the disk out of the machine and try to start the game IT DOES ask for the disk, so it is looking for something. When I do put it in the opening ad logo will come on but then will dump me to the desktop. It is most curious.

Ken:

How could it possibly work without the disk in the machine? What if you had done a regular install like most people and some of the information was still on the disk? How would it work? Wouldn't this only work if one had done a full install?

Ok, well the title says it all. I HAVE installed the Windows XP patch and this game used to work before on my old computer. I play from a copy but the original disk does the same thing. I start it up and can get to the scenario screen, although the screen looks messed up and is missing graphical inf...

Two part question gentlemen of the North and the South. 1.) I am still having difficulty indentifying THE EXACT SCENARIO NUMBER you are playing when in a campaign game. The NAME of the scenario is not enough for reporting purposes and I can't find anywhere in the files where the SCENARIO NUMBER is i...

Michael Gjerde (Army of Potomac) and I have been playing a "Battle of Salem Church" scenario since January and in the last month he had dropped off of the radar. Repeated emails are un-answered. I have contacted the head of the Army of the Potomac and no reply there either. Where are all the yanks? ...

Ok, my two cents. I would rather have unlocked maps and orders of battle. This fact has absolutely NOTHING to do with my decision to buy a new HPS title or not. There were versions of Seven Pines, Shiloh and many other titles available through various forums utilizing the un-locked Corinth engine. A...

Hey, was I the last to discover this? Did this feature just appear in one of the upgrades, or has it been a game feature all along? For those who have not discovered it, by clicking this feature 'on' all of your brigades will show up with distinct different colours making command control a heck of a...

Ok, Gentlemen I found out what was causing all the grief with the Battleground Games. From the age of the old thread it shows you how long it took me to find it. The final answer or correction is to be found in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=555067[url...

I am now getting "error in loading scenario file" whenever I load up a new scenario since I upgraded to version 1.02. Has anyone else encountered this? These are new games not ones already in progress.

OK - PARTIAL SUCCESS!!! IT'S ONLY A TACTICAL WIN IN THE BATTLEGROUND VS WINDOWS XP FIGHT - But can we change it into a Decisive?? Mike Kaulbars took four of the Battleground Games - Shiloh, Chickamauga, Antietam and Bull Run and applied the patch to each, then upgraded to 32 Bit and then transferred...

Well, I'm the poor Reb who started the thread on "Battleground Games not running in Windows XP". Now it looks as if it deserves a new thread title and alas the title says it all. I have tried just about everything and Battlegrounds will just not install. That's nine different Battleground Games and ...

Hello Dirk: NO it's a failure too. And I'm nearly at my wits end with this cursed thing. Does anybody know the repercussions of re-installing Windows XP? NOT a system Restore but REINSTALLING IT? What would I lose? Does it go over every item on the Hard Drive and erase it? I wouldn't want that. A sy...

Hello Bill, Ed - Pat: Yes, I have tried all of those options. The "Compatibility" method so many times I am sick of it. The games DID work at one time and I did not have to resort to this method so I just know it isn't that. The "Administrator" option is a dead end to I am afraid. I'm the only one o...

Say Patrick, I thought you might have had a solution there but it was still a "no go". It looked promising for a moment though. I am the only one on my computer virtually, so I don't have it set up for multi-users and stuff so that was not an issue. However it did point me in a new direction. I trie...
