The problem is not so much the ammo in the scenarios as it is the tendency of gamers to fire at long range. In most cases artillery seldom fired at maximum range, for that matter neither did the infantry. Most accounts of Civil War combat indicate except for sharpshooters most infantry fire was und...

Larry, Your idea (forced march) is well-taken but, if one is playing the standard 20-minute scenario, forced march is the standard pace. All units, every turn, are marching at a pace faster than AP Hill's forced march to Antietam or the VI Corps forced march to Gettysburg. I did a study on Civil War...

General Danner is too generous in his comment. Most of my time in the ACWGC has been spent in developing large scenarios for multi-player use. As such it has involved trying to understand Turn-based play as it is shaped by the game engine. I completed some studies years back involving the rifle, mov...

The word is "cites", not "sites". I typed "cites" and, for some reason, the software changed it. Strange.

Agree with General Dortch. Have had Nosworthy's book for years. I have used some of the data he sites within -- especially the chapter on the rifle -- to modify PDT files for scenarios I have designed. He cites Griffith within the text, most significantly the distance at which fire fights took place...

Gentlemen,

Looking for a couple of Rebs to confront Genls. Danner and Frost in an MP game: Mine Run :30 turns 3-day scenario. The PDT has been modified to use a base 24 movement system. There are no changes to the OOB or the scenario itself.

Gentlemen, As I replied directly to General Kunz, I am in. A point about including Longstreet's corps. If this alternative history had unfolded, I can't imagine Lee acquiescing to losing both his corps COs. If Jackson goes west, then Longstreet stays east. You will need to find some dregs from elsew...

Good Luck, Ken. I have been glad to work with you over the years in game aspects such as the PDT. Our 2-year endeavor as Confederates in an Overland game suspended in April 2017 was also a fun experience. Your presence in the Club will surely be missed.

I don't play against the AI, preferring PBEM. As such I can't offer opinions as to certain aspects of AI performance. Might I suggest a different approach to addressing the issue of the AI. Rather than attempting to be all purpose, focusing on developing strong defensive AI first would seem to be a ...

Ned, May be a case of the blind leading the blind here, but it appears from the message "Modem error" that you are playing online which I have never done. The .yyy file in a PBEM game is simply a text file which lists the situation as it exists when your opponents turn is advanced, much li...
