Gents: In my opinion the most interesting Wilderness battle is #109. I engineered it so that there is no opportunity for either player to pursue that ad infinitum tendency of players to continually try to get around a flank. Although the Confederate should try to assume a defensive position well for...

I have always had the greatest respect for the courage and fortitude of the Northern soldier. Whatever other conclusions are made about Overland, the ratings assigned to Northern regiments should NEVER be seen as my opinion of the courage of those regiments. The regiment which I reenact, the 111th P...

I imagine it, I suppose.
Western Pa, we are on the edge of all that stuff--should not be too bad. Mother nature needs to ease up on the coastal folks!

Are you using "save as" to direct the download to the appropriate files? Does it ask if you want to replace the existing file? Have not seen this problem, but need more info, I think.

The pdt displays a number which has to be reached before a trench is built. Generally, 30 in a 30 min turn pdt or 45 in a 20 min turn pdt. Number of men divided by 100, for example 700 men = 7 so it would take 5 turns in a 30 min game or 7 turns in a 20 min game to build a trench. Each turn you can ...

The rationale for many aspects of Overland including OOBs are in designer's notes. "Enlightened War."

"The north doesn't need a good general, just a competent butcher." Yup, his name was US Grant. Having been presented with the challenge of turning the Overland Campaign into a playable wargame, there was little choice but to match quantity with quality. I have read all the comments, and ha...

Depending on Pope's "org" number, it might make your scenarios incompatible unless the enemy has the exact same oob.

I noticed in the pic that there was also a stream across the hexside. I went into the master map and eliminated it.

With a little digging you might find some differences in the uniforms of the various states. Reenactors are big on having their members in the authentic uniform. Barring that, it would be great if each state had its own unique graphic.
