Thank you all for your suggestions. It is intriguing that the problem exists only with the HPS titles. I tried running the titles from the original disks. I got the same error message. There is plenty of memory and also all the drivers are up to date. I had been using the disk and the machine since ... |

Hello Pierre,
I have all the HPS files on my hard drive. I run the games (all of them HPS and TS) from a single master disk. For some unknown reason, after having operated this way for years, I now cannot open the HPS titles from the common disk. Strange.

Gentlemen: When trying to load the campaign games from my master disk, I get an error message: "Failure to Create Primary Surface". The games do not load. What is going on here if anyone can tell me. Thanks for your help.

I am trying to figure out the distinction between a "Yank" and a "Southern Gentleman". I think you are suggesting that rather than any southerner, you want one who is a gentleman. Clearly, all Yanks are, by definition, gentlemen. Good luck in your search. On a serious note, how many generals are you... |

Gentlemen of the North:
Three recalcitrant rebs have suggested that they can defeat the Yanks in a Hill Challenge battle. I need two (2) additional officers to join me in accepting the ludicrous challenge. Step right up and send your couriers to my HQ.

Has anyone seen or heard from Kenyon Woodget. He seems to have become hors de combat.

I cut my teeth on Bruce Catton in the 50's. His books are the standard I judge others by. If I had to choose one, it would be "Grant Takes Command".

Gentlemen:
I just finished George Will's column in our daily paper. I commend it to all of you. Seldom does a modern writer catch the right spirit of the Civil War, much less the Battle of Gettysburg.

Well, it is interesting to see such a plethora of opinions - most of them well reasoned. The difficulty for me is in making valid comparisons. The circumstances were quite different for Union and Rebel generals. I would submit that Thomas, Sherman, Sheridan, and Grant were the equal of any Rebel gen... |

I think we should give serious consideration to Gen. George H. Thomas. He is much maligned, but I think he was the best we produced.
