I, like Ross, ran out of artillery ammo with a few turns to go in a 205 turn campaign battle. But I disagree on the realism assessment for artillery ammo. The rebs did run out of ammo in this battle on the 3rd day and used their artillery much less than we often do in the game. I was very careful wi... |

I think that the economic model of WbtS is excellent, as Kennon lays out. It is all math driven so you can figure it out. Adn the south really does have to make hard decisions. For AACW, you are faced with decisions on (a) how many troops to raise (you have several diffent options), with each option... |

Both are very, very good games. lots of replay value, strategic and operational options, and variation to stay on my hard drive a long time. Because Grigsby is a simpler game, the AI is better but AACW has one of the better AI's around (and you can sneak in and help it keep its armies well organized... |

I own both and the War Between the states but I do not play Forge of Freedom anymore. the AGEOD civil war is probably my favorite single title ever. |

I cannot remember where I read it, I think it is in Foote, but the Confederacy did not have a food shortage issue in 1863. What they had was a distribution problem that could not or would not get food from outside of VA to the ANV on a consistent basis. |

This is a gameplay issue that has to do with reaction fire in teh single phase game. When playing multi-phase (I rarely due) it is much less of an issue. But as it stands it can make the reb guns almost useless. It seems like it would not be an issue of being "historical" to make all of the sections... |

enerally, do you play in 2D or 3D? 3D, but I will mix it up sometimes 2. What's the longest battle you've fought, in turns? I am on tturn 180 of a 200+ HPS GEttysburg campaign final battle 3. Do you play in single phase, or multi-phases? Answer as a percentage for each. 90/10 but I would play more m... |

I have done all the video's (which are great) and am getting into it. It is merely a case of how my brain works... Both games have a decent amount of micromanaging and I think AGEOD matches mine better.
But I am getting the hang of the GRigsby game and totally recommend it... |

Mark,
something about the leaders is hard for me to get my head around, I prefer Ageod's system better (although the railraod fixing is annoying). |

Bill, I am a huge fan of the AGEOD game. I think it balances strategic level thinking, resource allocation and troops building well with an operational level movement and combat approach. I have not played FOF in at least a year or more but I stopped playing it because there was little operational m... |

It depends on what you like. Shiloh, Atlanta and Chickamagua are good to me becuase they offer a variety of battle sized and situation. I have playes Shiloh the most so I would recommend it the most, then Chickamagua, then Atlanta. Ozarks is also a blast because it has so many battles. Most of them ... |

I am minsterpfleck at yahoo dot com
and no, I am not a minister, merely a play of words (misspelled for yahoo to accept it) on an old college nickname.

It woke a friend of mine up who lived on the south side of Chicago. I also am told that people in downtown high rises felt it and were a little freaked. I slept like a baby. |
