>Excellant Rich! You have given me the idea to ask John to do the same in the Napoleonic engine for limbered guns. We have the supply wagon, skirmisher and leader overrun rule in effect as you know.< So a new rule will let the surrounded unit "push" out through leaders, wagons, or limbered artillery... |

I'd vote for artillery to be able to retreat after melee defeat, ending up limbered and disrupted (and probably a few guns missing, too). They're semi-mobile victory hexes otherwise.

The best thing to do is to buy the cheap one [:D] http://www.staples.com/products/SpotLights/050612/580609/Default.asp Actually, I think in reviews Symantec tends to rate better, plus the Systemworks includes other utilities that are useful too. I upgrade mine every year for free when deals like thi... |

The problem is caused by the version of Safedisk that was only used on Chickamauga. Talonsoft never saw fit to correct it, only to say that the game was designed for Win98, not XP. The patch "fixes" the Safedisk so the game will run.

I think the games need to have entries in the registry for the music and sound effects to be "found". What I typically do is install the game fresh, but instead of patching I then copy my backed up version over the new install. I works every time.

I noticed in the Tips and Hints the description of melee in column is such that it encourages it. Given the general feeling in the club as discussed in many previous threads I think a warning should be included that it is often considered bad form except in certain circumstances, and explain what th... |

These guys have some from time to time: http://www.cdaccess.com/html/pc/49civil.htm but they're $29.95 now for Bull Run and Shiloh. Also, try NWS http://www.nws-online.net/ I saw Waterloo, Prelude to Waterloo, Shiloh and Bull Run there. Again, about $30. Major General Dirk Gross CAV DIV/XIV Corps/AoC |

Here's my batch file: cd c:\ del /s pbemail.yyy del /s pbemail.xxx del /s campaign.yyy del /s campaign.xxx The /s gets all subdirectories so it essentially finds all such files on my c: drive and deletes tham all. That way, it doesn't matter how many game directories you have or their names. Major G... |

You sure about the Nvidia 6800 GT for $119? Maybe $219, but not less than that without some real good rebate. If you see that deal again, let me know 'cause that's a STEAL! [:p]

The main problem I see in increasing the power of guns in melee instead of helping survivability of limbered batteries is that it is defeated by attacks of numerous small units rather than a large single unit. I admit in the BG series I became quite good at meleeing with two or three regiments shiel... |

>Perhaps the closest we can get to a simultaneous movement system without a massive engine change would be to play an umpired game where the players make 20 minute turns<
Sounds like Ken Miller's Stones River battle that we just finished.

Dee Dubya picked up on what a lot of us thought (I bet) when we heard the name of the game. I wonder how many sales they've lost by associating with the History Channel and that lame civil war fps they came out with. Well, maybe that's harsh because it may have met the designer's intent of a simple ... |
