"Natchez Trace Tavern"? Close, but no cigar. Everybody knows the best watering hole this side of the Alleghenies was the old "Chickasaw Bayou Tavern" of the Army of the Mississippi. I had my favorite table over in the corner, and who could forget that lovely waitress, Lulu? (Well...

Nothing like the sound of those two words “ Free Drinks” make mine a extra large anything, and congratulations to the new Division Commander  What's this I hear? I've been notified by the bartender that my bar tab at the "Clump of Trees" Tavern is now more than my monthly salary....

My congratulations, Colonel Strickler!

The next round of drinks here in the Tavern are on my tab, in honor of Colonel Strickler - the best Chief of Staff I've ever had! :D

Methinks General Cameron may have been dipping a bit too much into those 'home brew' bottles he keeps in his saddlebags! ;)

"America's Great Debate - Henry Clay, Stephen A. Douglas, and the Compromise that Preserved the Union", by Fergus M. Bordewich. I enjoy reading about events leading up to the American Civil War. I've read a couple of books about the Mexican War, and how it served as the training ground for...

I'm confused about the new 'variable' rules. Can an objective hex now be worth different amounts, depending on which side holds it? For example (say, if the hex is behind Union lines), it may be worth 500 points to the Rebel side but 0 to the Union?

General Hampel, sir. <salute> I think that would be a most excellent scenario! I just have to buy Campaign Ozark first. :D That you should, sir! Between Wilson's Creek, Pea Ridge, Lexington ('the Battle of the Hay Bales') and many smaller conflicts, it covers the war in western Missouri and norther...

General Sands,

No need to apologize. Old men tend to do that a lot. :)

General Sands, sir <salute> Way back when I was Club President (or before? the only time-keeper doesn't work as well as it once did) and some chaos had ensued, your name was the one brought up to lead a committee to resolve the issue, because of your stature on both sides of the club. You stepped up...

Sitting here in my tent, contemplating the orders of the day, and this news arrives by courier! Sounds like I had better get ol' Bessie saddled up and get my rear to Richmond . . .

That's a wonderful 'what if' idea that has not, to my knowledge, been explored. I've never heard how Lyon's personality meshed with those of his subordinates (he wasn't a general all that long, after all), but he certainly was aggressive. He may have ended up overextending himself and being handed a...

President-elect Dortch: My congratulations, sir. From the fine campaigning you did, I was tempted to vote for you myself! :) I'm confident the club will be in good hands under your leadership. If I may be of service to you in any way, please let me know. Your humble servant, Gen 'Dee Dubya' Mallory

That reminds me of the time General Cam McOmish rode into camp driving a brand-new fancy buggy. We asked where he got it from and he shared this story: "I was at a ball, hosted by none other than President Ernie Sands. Between dances, an absolutely drop-dead gorgeous Southern Belle walked up an...
