I think infantry can melee mounted cavalry when they are completely surrounded. At least, I'm pretty sure you could do that in TS BG. I haven't tried in HPS. Otherwise, infantry would have to be pretty fast runners to catch troopers on horseback... Lt. General Dirk Gross XIV Corps/AoC http://www.geo... |

Certainly! Phases allow potentially gamey tactics like charging out of the woods in column on a road, changing into line right in front of an enemy, then moving in with absolutely no reaction from the enemy. Can you imagine the howls of discontent when you defend a bridge crossing, only to have the ... |

I originally couldn't get them to work, either. I found a workaround is to start the game with the game executable, NOT the bg_start.exe file that the shortcut points to. Downside is you can't read the scenario names. You only pick the module, then select a file name. But the game works fine for me ... |

Similar feel as vista x64 I'm using now. I like Vista, it seems to fix most problems as you go rather than collect trash and die eventually like XP. You can't right-click the Start button and select Explore like Vista/XP. Instead, there's an icon on the task bar that works like the Computer button o... |

I installed the Windows 7 Beta on my spare computer today. Glad to say that HPS seems to work identically on Windows 7 as it does on Vista. I installed HPS Antietam with no patches and started a one-on-one battle. Saw no issues at all, it played normally. At the install I did get an error message sa... |

I've had disks read on one drive but not another. It's just an (unfortunate) fact of life. Technical problems are probably best posted at Matrix. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=484 Lt. General Dirk Gross XIV Corps/AoC http://home.columbus.rr.com/odotffl/images/14corps.gif |

I don't think the TS Battlegound games work under Vista. I run them in MS Virtual PC on XP in Vista. I couldn't get them to work properly in Vista directly. Also, you must replace the BGC.exe with the patched version to play in XP or higher: http://members.tripod.com/garyned/BGC_Patches.htm Lt. Gene... |

But an officers mounting or dismounting can cause defensive fire. I wish they could be distinguished from units changing formation.[:(] <blockquote id="quote"><font size="3" face="book antiqua" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by Rich Walker</i> <br />This is i... |

Are you using Vista or XP? BG games don't work in Vista. If you're using XP, the patch http://www.hc-llc.net/games/patches/bgc.zip <i>will</i> work. Make sure you're not mistaking the Gateway patch for this. That is intended for an issue only with Gateway computers. This file is listed on the second... |

I doubt the video card or driver is affecting mine. I've used both the ATI HD 3870 and now the HD 4850, so I'm current latest tech. I've updated drivers monthly too. Again, for me the problem is only intermittent and not bothersome. Lt. General Dirk Gross XIV Corps/AoC http://home.columbus.rr.com/od... |

It's happened to me too occasionally (white screen). Mostly in the PZC series during the some of the defensive fire shots. Then the screen is normal after the shots end. I use an ATI video card on an Intel system. I'm running Vista Business x64, and a Logitech wired mouse (MX518). I've had no issues... |

I whipped out my BG manual for Bull Run, and on page 34 under <b>5.2 Leaders</b> it says: "A mounted leader is more likely to be eliminated in this manner as one who is dismounted." So obviously JT is wrong. What does he know about this game anyway...[:o)] Anyway, it seems it was at least implied th... |
