Good post Ned. I was just wondering about all this myself. The AoC usually has a tournament against a reb army each year and we are contemplating another one in the near future - but until now they have all used the BG games.

I prefer the campaign play for the same reasons stated by Rich, but also because you don't know quite what you are going to get at each stage of the campaign, leading to some interesting scenarios which you might not choose to play in isolation, but which are fascinating within the campaign context....
