The Second Manassas campaign - hopefully stretching as far as Antietam - would probably be my first choice. With most of the map work already covered by Gettysburg it shouldn't be too time-consuming to get done.

You'll need a Gettysburg patch first. Anyone heard anything from Doug recently?

The following features would certainly be useful: 1./ A gun capture / recrew / recapture feature - this will be more logical than having meleed guns just disappear and it could mean that players will spend several turns fighting over guns. 2./ A proper artillery supply system (like infantry) with th...

Rich, It certainly wouldn't be my top engine change request either - that would have to be a gun capture/recrew/recapture feature as this would have a significant impact on gameplay and player tactics, and would allow for historical gun capture/recapture to occur, as at Shiloh and elsewhere. ...

Line disruption is of course already in the EAW & Nappy engines, so it should be feasible to carry it over into the ACW engine. At the moment it's possible to alter the pdt so that certain terrain types automatically disrupt cavalry, line infantry or even all units. But it would be far more u...

The skirmish at Apache Canyon (March 26, 1862) between Col. R.White and Maj.D.McDonald has ended in a DRAW. Major McDonald started out by capturing the 25pt objective at 44,7 and then advanced through the woods towards the 50pt objective at 34,27 where Colonel White had established his main l...

The Shiloh patch certainly helps defensive fire, but getting the artillery capture/recapture feature - especially the recapture ability - would have a significant impact on gameplay, since it would deter attackers from risking heavy losses to "take out" guns and clock up lots of victory points, beca...

What exactly is the "artillery ammo pool" suggestion and why would this be a more logical engine ungrade than proper artillery supply wagons (just like small arms supply wagons)? Or might "artillery pool" = supply wagons for guns? I think we need the actual physical supply wagons rather than some ab...

It would be far better if there were several levels of disruption - perhaps as many as 10, with the effects on movement and combat more gradual (and thus less severe) than the current disrupt/disorder systems. At low levels, units would still be able to melee and their fighting ability would be only...

40, born in 1965. I used to play traditional tabletop wargames at school back in the 70s ... until all the other boys switched over to fantasy D&D instead and there was no one left to play. Participated in a few D&D games for want of wargaming opponents, but didn't much like it. Then effectively sto...

I agree with Dierk (a worthy opponent here and at the NWC, but a fellow officer at the CCC) Multiplayer games are surely the best way to keep in contact with players on the same side.

On the subject of fatigue marching, before incorporating it into the HPS engine, it might be useful to take a look at how Age of Rifles (an old 1996 game, contemporary with the BG games) handles this - when a unit's about to move, the pre-plotted route is indicated in green, yellow, or...

Here are the results for the ACW Engine Change Requests (I've given 3pts if placed in 1st place, 2pts for 2nd place, 1pt for 3rd place. Afterwards, in brackets, I've given the total votes ie. 1pt per vote whether put in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place) Marching Fatigue 41 (17) Art Capture/Recapture 38 (16) Ar...
