AI is a major concern. Not because player's are using it as an opponent but because you have to use the AI's fire logic to eliminate having to have an extra mail round to resolve defensive fire in phased play. For Turn play you have no choice by to use the AI to handle defensive fire. It is a partic...

You have to be careful giving units long ranges just because their weapons could fire that far. Unless you are going to play all games with manual control of both offensive and defensive fire you are going to have the AI run you out of ammo. Ranges should reflect weapon use doctrine as well as poten...

Interesting tactical guide to the Burnside's Bridge scenario in War of Rights. https://gameplay.tips/guides/1782-war-of-rights.html Note the two pictures showing each sides view of the bridge. One thing WoR has brought home to me is how difficult it is to even see the enemy at ranges over 100 yards....

"Effective" range of most field pieces was probably very short. If you consider they are on wheels in uneven fields with probably soft soil under them, there is no way that a shot could be repeated accurately. At 500 yards most targets, men and guns, represent something of about 6 foot ver...

I am surprised at the Union lacking artillery ammo. Usually they have enough not to have to worry. Which may be what got him. Didn't realize soon enough how limiting it was. Main thing needed on artillery ammo use is better AI selections than minimum, random, and fire at everything. I would like to...

Having dual commentary with an independent one is a fun way to present an AAR but is time consuming. I did some in the past where each side posted a commentary on their turn but delayed it about 1 or 2 hours so they wouldn't give away anything to the enemy. Having a third person to collect the comme...

They just released their first Skirmish based on Harpers Ferry. It will need some balancing since the Yanks pretty quickly figured out all they needed to do was beat the Rebs to the exit points on the pontoon and railroad bridges then it became Fredericksburg in reverse. This is a "what if"...

They have posted their planned schedule (copy below) but not when Closed Beta will start although it looks like maybe by summer. We are still in Closed Alpha Phase 2. That a routing unit captures leaders & supply sounds acceptable but that it can capture artillery doesn't make sense, at best if the artillery was limbered and so not ready for combat. More worrying is that routing units not only ignore ZOCs but also enemy units. What is the sense of encircling...

They shouldn't be able to retreat through enemy units.

Turn based fire is by unit I believe. I vaguely remember some change regarding stacks but not sure it changed the fire to stacks or not on opportunity(fire triggered by movement) type fire. But from the point of view of odds of making a hit, stack fire is better. It is one of the reasons Turn based ...

Whoever is setting up the multiplayer game has to tell you what scenario is being used and what forces are available, then you can open it in whichever game series it is part of. They pretty much decide how much information you will have on the game. They may also make you wait until the first turn ...

They have been busy the last few months over on War of Rights. They now are testing servers with up to 150 people on them. They have added a number of new Skirmish areas. They have also added a Camera for making user videos which you can see in use in video link below. If you watch shortly into the ...

I'm getting them too, almost daily now. Trying to see if my Outlook settings will block it but may have to block all emails from this domain to stop it.
