I was ordering the upcoming HPS PZC game from NWS and I saw they had the History Channel Civil War: 1st Bull Run for $18, so I thought Id give it a try. Sounds like what the real-time guys are talking about and the price is right. I don't hold much hope though, most real time games (Combat Mission, ...

You mean a patch, not a mod, right?

Wow Rich! You really dislike the games this club supports, huh? The BG games really were just a computer managed version of the SPI Civil War board games I grew up playing, and enjoying. It was a huge improvement just in the ability to have fog-of-war (as well as a computer opponent). Sure there's a...

From what I've seen in Tiller's games, unless the fix is fairly simple (and I don't know what programming implications any of these ideas have) it is not likely to be investigated. I thought I read before that the programming implications of gun capture and recapture may be more than we think. On th...

Isn't it possible to treat unlimbered artillery as limbered artillery to capture most of what we're talking about here? If the battery loses the melee, at least some of the guns are considered to have limbered and escaped and are of course disrupted. How many escape is a function of how hard they we...

I agree with what's been said so far. If you're serious about staying in the club, go for the 5 for 3 deal. Since there's only 4 ACW games, you can make the 5th France '40 [;)]. You can find some of the Talonsoft BG games here: http://www.cdaccess.com/html/pc/49civil.htm I'd suggest getting at least...

I thought one of the main reasons for batteries in sections was to model the different gun types instead of having to use the most common gun type for the entire battery. If HPS hadn't done it, we'd be clamoring to do it ourselves for the sake of accuracy! After all, we can always keep them together...

I still have that SPI Lord of the rings game. There was also a sequel or add-on I believe that focused on one specific battle, but I never got that one.

Make sure you're not using the new Talonsoft patch since it won't work with the 32-bit patch. Try patching again with these: http://www.hc-llc.net/games/patches.html and then the 32-bit patch (which is linked on that site). I just upgraded my HD and reinstalled BGBR with no problems. Using XP Pro. M...

I've been using it for awhile and it works well for me. However, you'll find some web sites don't work correctly and you may have to use IE. For example, on the Asus web site, none of the hypertext links function at all. On my own army's AoC page, the pop-up text for medals and awards don't work eit...
