I'm going to agree with Joe on this one, I much prefer standardized movement costs throughout the series. I would even extend it further. I'm very tired of playing some modules where it cost 3 mps to change an artillery battery from limbered to unlimbered and in other scenarios it's 4 mps. That 1 mp... |

Matrix has announced a new patch for War Between the States. Probably out this week. It will fix a number of 'bugs' that I never knew were there plus some significant changes to the way Kentucky can be invaded by both sides. The forum on the Matrix Website describes all. http://www.matrixgames.com/f... |

Hey Guys: Kennon and I have been playing this thing for awhile now and while I'm getting my rear end kicked as both sides I'm wondering how others are doing? Can we get some answers to these questions. I realize players have probably not had a lot of time to complete full games but I'm also interest... |

Would like to take on a Yank at the three day Battle of Gettysburg scenario. Phased play and open to other options.

I'm glad they fixed the 'officer triggering fire' thing then. It goes to show you how long it's been since I have used turn based play. And will not use it.

Unfortunately the simple act of an officer entering a hex can also trigger auto-defensive fire. This 'opportunity fire' I believe was instituted in an attempt to make email play easier. And in my opinion failed even at that, to say nothing of the a-historical example it sets. Bg. General Gilbert Col... |

THE DYING CONFEDERACY It's the winter of 1864-1865 and the Confederacy is dying. Hopefully I will be able to get a screen shot of the situation below. Basically though the Mississippi is totally under Union control and the State of Mississippi has been over run. Union armies advance from the North W... |

Thanks Ken for the reference. I knew it was in there somewhere. This does alleviate, but not entirely correct the deficiencies of the hex grid but it is a good starting spot.

Update: Naval affairs in the Confederacy. As Kennon pointed out the Confederate Navy finally "got active" but got sunk for it's troubles. The Confederate AI navy seems to work entirely different than one commanded by players. When the AI sallies forth with even a single Ironclad it does mighty damag... |

Mike: I certainly like the idea of defending every hex, and in my play these days I'm trying to get back to that. But the HPS system with the hex grid inherently doesn't REWARD such behavior. On the contrary you are penalized for doing so. I would like to see a +mod for the defender when both flanks... |

It's common knowledge that the Civil War was that great conflict that finally made the superiority of defense over the attack conclusive. Certainly by 1864 with the examples of the fortifications utilized in the Atlanta Campaign, and at the siege of Petersburg this was proven. Petersburg begins to r... |

Dale: I couldn't help but notice your comment about the ten minute turn thing. I'm dead against that suggestion. One of the reasons I hate the Colonial games is the ridiculous 5 minute turn! Playing a game like Brandywine with five minute turns is insane. I can't imagine Gettysburg done the same way... |
