A dust cloud slowly rises above the horizon, just beyond the Cemitary Ridge, behind the unheard of little town of Gettysburg... A mounted blue-clad column moves up, a staff unit in the lead. The general commanding turns to the ADC's to his left and orders in a sharp voice: "Captain, bring brigadiers...

Genereal Walter, Sir! - and all other fellow officers who have spoken up regarding this issue: IMO, this is a very critical point to discuss - and the question does not have an easy answer! Here we have to stay open minded and try to find pieces from all sides to build into a complete puzzle... so t...

Regarding books on the ACW and Gettysburg in particular, Coddington's "Gettysburg Campaign" is very good, but Stackpole's "They met at Gettysburg" is also very good and easily accessed for non-military people as well. Stackpole has a very good one on Chancellorsville too, "Chancellorsville - Lee's G...

Gentlemen,

my ISP have some serious problems with the server for incoming mail, so expect anything sent the last 1-3 days and that you haven't received an answer to, as lost or heavily delayed.
Pls resend anything you might suspect hasn't reached me!

Sirs, as a representative of the military (in real life), units tend indeed to rout more often into friendly units than into the open areas - and because of a simple reason: Safety. The non-rouitng troops represent for the routers shelter and protection from the enemy fire/bayonets. Of course, the o...
