I think that Antietam and Bull Run are pretty much inevitable, the question is simply when. Not only how long before the next game (with the recent rush, it may well be awhile) but will those games come before or after C'Ville, the Valley or the Overland Campaign? Of course, not only do we remember Gettysburg, but let us not forget the far more important event of that day, the surrender of Vicksburg.

The usual problem with the "black screen" on replay is that you are on different patches. So, that's the first thing to check.
If that doesn't work, then delete the pbemail.xxx and pbemail.yyy files (on both sides)

Sadly, unless the designer's notes indicate it (or I've seen a few scenarios where the descrips make a statement), there's no reliable way to tell what the Designers think should be your "optional" rules.

General Smith: Ultimately, that really depends on the Scenario designer. If the designer assumes that the rule will be used, he'll balance for that rule, if he assume that rule won't be used, he'll balance for that. For instance, I've got a long delayed (and currently shelved) project to do the 1814 ... |

Even if Stoneman failed in his mission (which, frankly, considering the "quality" of Union Cav to that point should have been expected) it was still better for Hooker to get out of those woods. The woods drastically cut the strength of his army, including on his precious defensive. There were limite... |

Even beyond "not attacking while Jackson was on the march", what was he still doing in the Wilderness to begin with? That's the biggest question of them all. The rebs couldn't have stopped Hooker from coming out of the woods, the march he'd stolen on Lee was more than enough to ensure that. Hooker c... |

I do think troop values comes down to design philosophy to a fair extent. I'm one of those that feels that theres too many high end troops running around out there. I'm more "in the mix" on the philosophy issues on the Nap side than the ACW side, but I know over there, the differences are fairly dee... |

That is in the game.
In both the Nap/EAW engine, as well as the ACW, that's the "Quality Fire Mod" optional rule.

I still think the best understanding of Hooker is still his old Army rep:

I've never come across this particular spin, so it's hard for me to say much about it one way or the other. My understanding has always been that Meade's "problems" with reputation come from two things mostly. After the failure to follow up after Gettysburg, Lincoln's estimation of him plummeted. Mo... |

I prefer not to use MDF, but I am adaptable. Honestly, if MDF didn't require the silly rule that you can only change formation right at the start of the turn, I'd be more willing to use it. (mostly silly because playing mostly in single-turn, I'm always forgetting that I have to do any formatno chan... |

To figure it out
Open the .cpf file in Notepad, and the scenario name is listed on the 2nd or 3rd line.
Note, I only do this in these sorts of circumstances, that is to say, when the devs need the scn name.
