I want to address an issue that is really driving me nuts with our civil war games. That being the firing of all the units in a stack together at one target. What I am finding with this that i dislike is that it makes the game favor the offense way too much in my opinion. All the units fire at full ... |

My father's grandfather Nerlos M Thayer served with the 37th NC. He joined late in 1863 and survived. His brother Kendick Thayer was with the 52nd NC and was killed during the Seven Days Battles. On my mom's side, her great grandfather, Fourney Prevatt was with the 28th NC. He joined in 1862 and als... |

Lars, I think we played a series of games a few years back that I greatly enjoyed so I would be honored to meet you on the BG field of your choice. I don't have the Frost versions though. Just let me know if standard BG is ok and if so your game preference. Lt General Jon Thayer 2/3/III Army of Nort... |

I think that a very simple solution but one that would fall into the area of "house rules" to be agreed upon at the beginning of a game would be to simply restrict any unit that routs behind the opponents lines to no action at all. They must just sit where they are until the end of the game or their... |

I understand and accept that with regard to the path that routed units follow, at times they will follow what would be considered illogical routes. But my question goes more along the line of what can routed units do. The game played is one of the Chancellersville games. For the Rebs all their units... |

In a current game a unit routed away from their lines to behind the enemy lines and ended up adjacent to an unescorted leader. The routed unit then moved and captured the leader during the turn. I have always felt that routed units should do no more than attempt to return to their lines if possible ... |

At least if the units of a stack fire individually there is the chance that each firing unit may trigger defensive fire.

I think that a possible solution that would make it better would be if player would just agree to fire units individually instead of as a stack.

Mike, with the napoleonic system you can rotate units the top of the stack and then fire them.

I know the lack of defensive fire effectiveness has been discussed before but I had an idea that I thought I post and see where it goes. I am playing an Atlanta scenario and i find my Rebs are now on the defensive. I am constantly suffering the familiar, Yank stack moves adjacent to Reb stack, one r... |
