For the most part this is a "don't care" topic for me, but while I can see the merits of some change I would vote "kept the current process". It seems to me that in the past year or so, more attention has been paid to making General officer promotions dependent on club service and that is good. Even...

Angels, angles, corp, or corps -- in any case congrats on the new assignment. Good Luck. PS: is there a spell check option on the board? PPS: actually I believe "killer angle" is from the mathematics of battle refering to the situation where you draw the enemy in then say, "gotcha"! Lt Gen Bob Breen...

<i>I'll offer to lead the glorious Southern army to Prairie Grove. No ultimate preference as to version, but would lean towards the Ozark one as I haven't played it. Want to see 10,000 28mm Napoleonic Figures fight it out on a table top. Then Lancaster, Pa is the place on December 1-4, 2005. The scenario will be Austerlitz. All the details follow, and if you want to play, you need to sign up, but if you (and a guest) want to go and see the event, the coordinator...

Always fun to talk about engine changes. I think a gun capture/recapture function would be an interesting change, but the "variable movement" concept of Commander Weir's post is even more interesting to me since although it probably requries some major work, it has the potential to significantly cha...

I've never had an issue with wagon movement, so it is not on my list. I can offer some statistics, which I think support slower movement. While in theory wagons could move almost as fast as infantry -- wagons 2.5- mph and infantry 2.5+ mph, wagons were not able to travel much more then 8 hours a day...

Commander Morris: This was in an email from Fred Hubig last night: Roland was kind enough to send me a CD of the pics he took (but didn't send a note). I mistakenly thought he was the Harrisburg newspaper photographer who was taking pictures at Antietam, too. Consequently, when the article comes out...

The Historical Miniatures Gaming Society (HMGS-East) is holding its third convention of the year -- Fall In -- at the Eisenhower Inn, in Gettysburg, PA. HMGS-East is an organization of historical tabletop gamers that has around 5,000 members, mostly from the Mid Atlantic and New England States that ...

Just to put some perspective on this. The recent Antietam Miniatures event covered in another post had 3,000 painted 27mm metal figures and 3 tables I judge to be 6' x12' of very detailed terrain. So without taking anything away from the Gettsyburg Mueseum display that implies the Antietam setup was...

As for audio tapes and CDs, our local library has many of them. They can be a bit pricey to purchase but every once in awhile I also see some military history ones at our local Sam's Club. A few years ago I was routinely doing 2 hours trips four times a week, with some 6 hour trips on the weekends a...

I have Foote's trilogy. I tend to read selective topics. I also had his tapes of the Gettysburg Campaign, Stars in their Courses. I thought the tapes were better then the Michael Shaara book Killer Angels, althoughs Foote's Southern bias does come through from time to time. Comparing tapes might not...

I concur with the other comments, its a great little book. Very well done and an easy read. ..and if you want a short tease about the events of 1864 in the valley, you can check out a local source: http://home.arcor.de/dierk_walter/AOS/ and click on the AoS History link. And pay attention to what ha...
