Bill, Thanks. Right now I'm working on James Morgan's Ball's Bluff book, and I plan to post a review of that too. I hope to do a little comparing and contrasting between Morgan and Farwell. Morgan is apparently THE guy to go to for Ball's Bluff knowledge. He lives near the battlefield year-round, an...

Guys, I just encountered this forum today and it looks like a decent place to discuss many topics on the War. If anyone is interested it is at: http://us-civilwars.net/phpBB2/index.php -Capt. Brett Schulte 2nd Bde, 1st Div., III Corps, AotM, ACWGC http://www.brettschulte.net/hps_acw.htm

http://www.brettschulte.net/ACWBooks/BallsBluff.htm The following is a review and short summary of Ball’s Bluff: A Small Battle and Its Long Shadow (EPM, 1990), by Byron Farwell. Farwell’s book covers the October 21, 1861 Battle of Ball’s Bluff, a small fight between the Confederate Brigade o...

Guys, If anyone wants to discuss any Civil War books, a good place to do so is the Yahoo ACW Recommended Reading Group. It has been slowly growing, but I'm the type of guy who wants as many opinions on a book as he can get. If anyone is interested heck it out here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/reco...

I'd love to see the ability to use captured artillery, and also to have a feature where you have a percent chance to spike captured guns after capturing them.

Guys, Drew Wagenhoffer has put together an interesting Case Study of artillery effectiveness at the real Battle of Iuka and in a Campaign Corinth Battle of Iuka scenario using the 11th Ohio Artillery. In the case study, he compares the effectiveness of the real battery with its wargame counterpart, ...

Sherman's Horsemen by David Evans does not cover the entire Atlanta Campaign, but picks up with the numerous raids starting on July 3, 1864 and going to the end of Kilpatrick’s Raid on August 22, 1864. This book came recommended by several people in the “civilwarwestâ€

Mike, Thanks, I appreciate it. I don't know exactly. I know the MMG guys had said on their message boards that they hope to have multiplayer in the next game, but it will depend on whether or not they make enough money on this game to work on it full time. <blockquote id="quote"><font size="3" face=...

Guys, I don't know how many of you have tried Bull Run: Take Command 1861, but I've found it to be a very enjoyable game. It is real time, but the ratio is 1:1, so it isn't really like Rome: Total War at all. I've created a fan site for it similar to my HPS Fan Site at http://www.brettschulte.net/MM...

Guys, I've been so impressed by this game that I've decided to run a fan site for them similar to my HPS ACW site. The first content will appear this evening and it is still a bit rough, but it is located at http://www.brettschulte.net/MMGACW/ . If anyone has the game and is doing mods, doing how-to...

Bill, See my post over at the MMG forums on Jackson in Strategy & Tactics. It took me a few tries, but I came up with a strategy that netted me 343 points in that scenario. <blockquote id="quote"><font size="3" face="book antiqua" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally post...

How about Casey's Division at Seven Pines? McClellan picked his smallest, least trained, and sickest Division a half mile in front of everyone else and didn't seem to consider the possibility that this would pretty much invite the cautious Johnston to do his worst. Unfortunately for Casey and his bo...

Here's my updated take on the game as well after managing to win each of the four brigade scenarios. I'm with Bill. I LOVE this game. Pierre and anyone else who has ordered it won't be sorry, especially for $20. As Bill says, the game is real time, so five seconds in real life is five seconds in the...

I just received my copy in the mail yesterday, and I failed miserably in the last phase of the tutorial. My brigade's job was to protect the Division's left flank, and the Rebs got behind me without my knowing it. I was impressed with the fact that the enemy AI will attempt to work a regiment around...
