Hi, Colonel, I would much rather have a turn-based system where something similar to what you suggest happens after you hit the end of turn button. In other words, all units that didn't fire in opportunity fire would fire full strength, units that fired only once would fire at half strength, (all un... |

Hi,
On my computer, when you enter the tavern, at the bottom of the screen are three pull-down menus for time period, order of threads (ascending or descending) and something else. You can set for descending order in the middle pull-down menu.

Aw, hell, let's beat it some more.[:D] There were just two things wrong with the turn-based system; the in-turn melee, where units from the rear could open holes for units in front to exploit. The other is anemic defensive fire. The melee problem has been solved, to a degree, though not in the manne... |

Hi, Lieutenant, The dictionary has the following definition for spike: to render (a muzzle-loading gun) useless by driving a spike into the touchhole. You are right that guns were rendered inoperable by other means, including removing the implements needed to serve the guns (Smith's battery,... |

Hi, Mark, I really appreciate your AAR. A couple of years ago a strategic ACW game was a need. Now there are three or four. Looks like this game needs more work on balance though. The Yanks historically were able to make a lot more progress than you, and it sounds to me like it's not you but the gam... |

Hi, I will try to answer your questions. Q1-No. Currently they remain in place but can be rotated in place. Also fired if occupied by a combat unit, at no penalty to the combat unit. Q2-yes. Q3-Essentially they revert to the original owner when unoccupied. As such, when they are 'recaptured' by new ... |

Here is another thing that drives me crazy. I moved adjacent to some artillery in a Resaca meeting engagement, and one of my opponent's batteries fired at a target several hexes away. That is ridiculous! The same thing happened to me in a Gettysburg game, possibly the last time I play Gettysburg wit... |

Here is another; fix it so routing units rout away from known enemy
units and toward friendly units. I think the way it is now, units
rout away from the direction of fire. Sometimes enfilade fire will cause units to rout toward the enemy.

One thing I would like to see is the Panzer General-type movement where maximum movement ranges are highlighted and you click on a unit and on the destination hex. Then you can disable the column routine currently being used. I have found it to be almost as much trouble as it is worth. Too many time... |

Hi, Captain, Folks on either side of the wall enjoy its protection, as long as they are adjacent. The same is not true for breastworks, which, if you will note, are depicted within a hex rather than as a hexside. Embankments work the same as breastworks, although a historical case could be made that... |

Hi, Rich, I think all these options would enhance the system. As I have said before, though, there should be a firepower penalty for crewing captured guns. In addition, I feel that if guns are recaptured before they are spiked, they are automatically recrewed with some fatigue penalty. I base this o... |
