Scott & Jefferson. What is this "other start" button you are referring to? This particular problem is really crazy. The trouble is I CAN'T EVEN INSTALL THE GAMES!!! I have checked Gettyburg, Shiloh, Chickamauga, and Napoleon in Russian, and Prelude to Waterloo. All original disks in mint condition. ... |

OK, I thought I would give some of the old "Battleground" games from Talonsoft a try and I am having all kinds of problems. Mainly they just will not work. "Antietam" is installed and works. "Shiloh" is installed but will not start. Clicking on the executive file doesn't do a thing. Same thing for "... |

Well, my suggestions are a lot simpler than everyone elses. PLEASE have the defender fire at FULL value and the attacker at one half value IF HE MOVED! To me this would go a long way to correcting the a-historical results we are getting in single turn play. The other suggestion would be to have the ... |

I'm very glad this "single turn combat" thing is being discussed. That's the way things get better - discussion. It's easy to say "stop all the criticism", but what's wrong with constructive criticism? I will say it again, these HPS Civil War Games are exactly my "cup of tea". Not one of these garba... |

My Priorities
1.) Higher defensive fire for Artillery
2.) Batteries that have the same kind of guns unitary, not sections
3.) Lower point values for Artillery and Cavalry |

In HPS it is my understanding that the defender fires at 1/2 value and that the attacker fires at full value. Is this correct? Isn't this completely backwards? Shouldn't the attacking party (who is on the move) be the one who's attack value is halved? As players have mentioned movement is not tied t... |

Apologies there gang! I don't post a lot in the tavern so I'm always forgetting club protocol about stating your rank and army when you post. No ghost, just a Reb with a lot of defeats (mainly due to some bad tactics) and a few victories to his credit. I am still definitely in "learning mode" when i... |

I'm glad to see that there has been some response to this topic. But another thing just occured to me. We have discussed the "weakness" of artillery in defence, phased play versus turn based etc. and even the sectional batteries that a lot of players do not like. Is it not the "combination" of all t... |

Well, I guess it must be "just me", but I am getting so frustrated with the tactics depicted in the new HPS series that it makes me want to embrace "Battleground" flaws and all. Why is the Damn offense more powerful than the defence? I see it all the time and it completely defies explanation. I thou... |

Gentlemen: While I am in total agreement with the present "club rules" regarding 'gamey' play and things of this nature, I don't want us to get to the point where there are so many 'house rules' that I have to keep diving for a rules booklet somewhere. I left that world in the BoardWar gaming hobby,... |

Some of the 'Campaign Decisions' sure are confusing for me too. I began fooling around with the AI in the Shiloh Campaign and ended up at the second "battle" game which is Logan's Cross Roads. In that battle I easily defeated the AI and ended up winning the War!! Isn't that a bit much? I mean Logan'... |

I was curious about the ground scale in the HPS Campaign Games. Examining the Gettysburg Campaign maps I have come up with a scale of about 130 yards to the hex. Is this correct, or close? Is there any documentation from HPS that states the exact ground scale? Also is the scale of each individual ti... |
