"But an officers mounting or dismounting can cause defensive fire. I wish they could be distinguished from units changing formation." But I thought that it had been established very recently in the MDT that there was no advantage or disadvantage to an officer being mounted or dismounted, thus there ... |

Rejoice! I've seen the same thing and its bound to be because we have those Rebs on the run. Where I used to stay busy enough with 4 games going, now I have to maintain 8. Confederate surrender is probably right around the corner. However, if they ever decide that they've had enough home cooking and... |

I did not have an ammo problem during that one. I was not in any particular hurry (except to race into position) and had plenty of time to maneuver, including bringing up ammo wagons. The Union generally has the ability to ... wait a minute, is that Reb at the other table listening to us? Dang, he's... |

1. Generally, do you play in 2D or 3D? 2D 2. What's the longest battle you've fought, in turns? 98 3. Do you play in single phase, or multi-phases? Answer as a percentage for each. Multi-Phase 100% (sshh, Gen Mallory) 4. How many ACW games do you usually have going at once? 5-7 5. Do you play multi-... |

With the example given, I am sympathetic but lets look at it another way. What if the artillery had dropped 150 troopers during defensive fire and then another 150 during melee defensive fire. That wouldn't sound fair either since the defense got two shots at it and the offense probably none - and t... |

Harlan, I also use a Logitech Marble Mouse (trackball) and have never suffered from whiteout, well maybe between the ears but not on screen. I've used a series of trackballs for years to play these games without incident. I'm still on XP and won't get a Vista laptop until Xmas (here comes Santa Clau... |

I've lost contact as well but he had signed up for some summer college classes that were giving him fits so I've assumed that he is concentrating on what is important. No, I didn't mean game turns were the most important. It should be God first, family second, job/college third, feeding Ned's slush ... |

But Bill, I think that you nailed the problem right on the toe, no hand, I've got it ... head. Some of us are trying to do your #2 and some of us aren't. If we did #2 reliably, then we could use won/loss records for the scenario to tell if it might be balanced (like in the old days with the BG games... |

Most of them are that easy, but not always so. For some of the scenarios, after you play a few turns, you can usually combine the information obtained from the CPF file with how many turns are in the scenario plus what you see occurring on the battlefield to pinpoint exactly which scenario that you ... |

1 - It'll be too difficult to set up club wide tournaments with such a variation of games available. 2 - It really puts the pressure on our Training Academies to have instructors available for such a variable number of games. 3 - We have a hard enough time now trying to work out games among each oth... |

In the Battleground Games, the opposing units that are located on the reinforcement hex will disappear, just like they were zapped away to a Martian ship. I don't think that points are awarded for their disappearance although I'm not positive about that point. I don't know if this logic was carried ... |

Just how big of a fool do you think that I am? The scenario that you picked historically has the Union as the aggressor but yet the Confederates outnumber the Union on the battlefield. Additionally, the Rebs hold the better ground and the interior lines while the Union center (a whole corps) is fixe... |

Chickamauga sounds good BUT the only way that I play with MDF off is with the new Optional Melee rule included in the new Antietam disk. Otherwise, I play with all options on. (I sent an earlier response thru the forum e-mail feature which you apparently didn't get) Gen Mallory talked me into a Cori... |

Zzzzz! What! Somebody's talking to me? General Bastiani, is Sadie Hawkins Day over with? Not from the looks of my e-mail box. I've still got some HPS series that I've never played yet - namely Franklin, Chickamauga, and Ozark - and I play with all options on, so I'm walking (and talking) and if you ... |

I'll offer another viewpoint. I love history but I'm a gamer. I play to relax and shed off some of the stress that has accumulated during the day. When it comes to the options that we use, I always play with all options on regardless of whether they make sense or not. The last thing that I need is s... |
