My own opinion, so often given without asking, is that the current forum here is very poorly designed. A TON of sub-forums which have been unused for a very long time make it overly cluttered. I think the forums here need to be eliminated and everything just moved to the main forum here "Feedback Section etc. etc." Maybe just rename the forum itself to AAR's.

My two cents

Well General Busybody is back (I write with a smile, not a sigh and grimace)!

It may be, but it has taken literally several years to resolve a long standing proposal to even establish some place to file AAR's!

There is also a proposal about developing a home for a "balanced scenario" list which I think is a great idea, too, and which could be in one "document" or within the game threads established in this subforum. There is also a need to find a place for evaluation of scenario's played (which as one can see several members have done) that relates to the balance scenario list, etc.

So first, let's see how many members actually take the time to produce AAR's before we launch on some other means to post them up.

And second, I think there are a number of reconfigurations/modifications of the website that are warranted and it is on my list to propose to the Cabinet that a team be formed to review the site and make recommendations such as yours to do this systematically.

I can only warn of folding current sections into others. Currently we have a clear distinction in the purposes that these sections serve.
We clearly separate:
- general forum
- finding opponents
- improving the club
- modifying games
- off topic
- history
- improving games & collecting AARs
Roughly seen this is really the minimum separation that is needed for a club like us that wants to encompass various aspects of not only gaming but clublife and beyond.
By that all current section are justified.
Even if some are not frequented so much there is no reason to disband them but rather to encourage members to contribute.

Especially the idea to fold everything into a single section is beyond crazy and it just leaves us with a pile of mess where nobody is able to find anything anymore and the forum would degenerate into a more or less twitter style board that only serves a daily purpose and all older stuff just goes down the drain as nobody finds an AAR on page 65, a bug posted on page 34, or an idea posted on page 15, etc..

And I know what I'm talking about as I worked through the COMPLETE French forum section to extract valuable threads that got lost because of us just using a single section. In some aspects this could have spared me and others trouble if only we would have know about these threads.
I added some 6 more forum section to the French side to serve various purposes that are specifically handy for the French.
