Question about Skirmishers: I was in a maneuver and I wanted to find a little more on skirmishers so I went to the user manual and I found this comment "This line of Skirmishers will provide it with additional information and protection during battle, although it will slow the unit down in maneuvers". How does it provide protection during battle?

They provide a buffer from enemy units. Preventing them from just moving up by putting up cover fire and just being pests. You can move the main formation because the skirmishers don't move as well on command.

They identify a unit moving toward them from two hexes out (extremely handy in woods or other side of the hill, etc) and also cost that unit at least a movement point as they come into range which can sometimes mean the difference in whether or not that unit can close and attack that turn.

Took me a while to figure out where to find the additional MP cost of moving adjacent to a unit that has deployed skirmishers.
This is found in the PDT table for the scenario.

I think skirmishers are underrepresented compared to the Napy series and most of the time of no use. Yes recon in woods but that is really the best you can get out of them.
