I'm hoping the general help file will answer most/all of my questions (having to download the software to view it), but is there anyone who is familiar enough with the scenario editors that they could give me some pointers? I'm wanting to do a bit of research and develop a campaign for the American Southwest, as there were a few battles that took place in NM and AZ, plus some hypothetical scenario possibilities. Main issues I'm having right now are things such as adding new units to the map and changing terrain types.

Anyone who'd like to playtest it when I get it done, let me know. It's going to have to be developed on either the Antietam, Atlanta, or Gettysburg campaign editors, but maybe I can tweak the OOBs and such to just apply to that campaign and not the main one.

Thanks,

Lt. McWaters,

Unfortunately the current HPS ACW games have the map and oob files locked. The only way you would be able to create new maps and oobs at this time is by using the older unlocked Corinth 1.01 version or modifying the existing files in such a way as to keep the checksum value the same which I think is a tedious process. Unfortunately that early version lacks most of the subsequent updates that addressed the problems that made the game produce such ahistorical results (IMO). It has been suggested that once the series has run it's course the games will be unlocked, I understand there are at least 2 more games currently in the works so that may be a while yet.

Regarding information on the various game files, you can try the ACWGC Engineering Department at

there is a lot of information on the structure of the map, oob and pdt files as well as an introduction to the scenario editor. This information has been collected from various sources both inside and outside the club.
