I have Alesia, GBOH Vol XI and the basic combat mechanics are supposedly based on the Simple GBOH rules. I think the reason for this is the non-linear nature of the action and the added complexity of the siege assault and fortification rules. It's a fun game and plays very well, although it has me wanting to (eventually) get one of the regular linear battle games with the 'non-simple' rules to see how it compares.
