Dusting myself off following my defeat at the hands of Leeferg2. I'm certainly up for another shot at this classic game.

In addition to a fine rendering of the board game, a copy of the rules is also available on the VASSAL site. The game was amongst the first to break down turns into an unknown number of pulses. This makes it very pbem friendly as players do not have the opportunity to activate large numbers of units in each pulse. Leaders are essential to move large bodies of troops but the number of actions for any particular unit is zero or one per pulse. The difference between dies rolled by each player limits the number of 'command points' a player can spend in a single pulse, better leaders with lower 'initiative rating' have a greater opportunity to execute actions. Sustaining momentum is hindered due to the need of executing actions across three operational areas (East, West and Trans-Mississippi).
