Gentlemen Heartfelt congratulations to two deserving officers! Note the Union habit of returning its most distinguished officers to battle commands so that they can cap a great career with a heroic death. Not only does it make for better mythic figures, it also saves on the pension fund [;)] Gen Mike Kaulbars 3rd "Freiheit" Division VIII/AoS |

Gents, My apologies for being late to this party but I was in Kansas City for the weekend. Gen Breen and I go way back joining the club at about the same time and both being posted to XIX Corps. He has served as a Division Commander replacing me as CO of 3/XIX and commanded both the VI and XIX Corps. Any honors given him are well deserved. Gen Blackburn is also one of those who has helped keep this army running smothly having served at division or corps level command for most of his time in the ACWGC. I was very happy when the recent merger of the AoS and the AoJ allowed me to grant the request of these fine officers to take a break from command after all they have done for this organization. My only wish is that we could offer them more than our thanks and this cyber medal. Now since most everyone is already gone I can probably afford to buy a round for the few remaining. Gen Simms, is that you, get up off the floor sir. You're supposed to set an example for those young lieutenants. Gen. Ken Miller Army of the Shenandoah |
