General Bird,

Good luck reasoning out your WO choice - I started my career as an enlisted man, went up through E-7 before applying for a commission (Limited Duty Officer in Naval terminology). Loved my career, wouldn't have changed it.

I imagine we're going to have to "agree to disagree" on Larry, hopefully as amicably as we can! I'd rather trade barbs about Marines versus Navy. I still get laughs when I tell folks I'm off to the men's room to "Put a Marine on sea duty". I'm sure you'll hit me with the "Thanks for the ride, Sailor, now the real men are off to fight" or some such equally heinous barb!

Being a teacher is the most important job in the world. Without techers there is no hope. For the record, in case anyone misinterpreted my earlier statements before this thing degenerated, and despite my joking about Bill making sense, I definatly agree that the ladder (DOR) and the politics are the problem.....Its a shame it has come to this....We can do better.....

Gents, I am locking this post before things get any more out of hand. This is my decision and not anyone elses. So I am the blame for the lock out...

"Any people, anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable and most sacred right - a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people, that can may revolutionize and make their own of so many of the territory as they inhabit."
