Gentlemen of all Persuasions and Creeds! [:)]

I revert back to a subject upon which, I have written a few times before.

There is a gradually growing trend of late, in Posts on both this and the PBEM Boards, for ACWGC Member to publish either their own or other Member's e-mail addresses within the body of text in their Post. This also includes within "Signature" Blocks!

I would STRONGLY advise and suggest that this Practice Stop, Halt and desist from here on.

There are programs developed by Spammers and Phishers, that regularly scour the Internet for usage of the symbol " @ "

When collected by the Spammer/Phisher, this information is filtered again to extricate e-mail addresses and a wave of Spam etc. hits anyone unfortunate enough to have their address captured by these Vermin.

Membership applications to this and the other ACWGC Forums pass thru' a procedure of Verification of the authenticity and genuine Bona Fides of the Applicants and their intentions when joining the Forum. As a Rule of Thumb - anyone wishing to join these Boards, MUST enlist with either of the Armies and complete His Training Manoeuvre.

This "Filtering" duty falls to one Member of the Club - with occasional assistance from one or 2 others.

WHAT is the point of attempting to protect the ACWGC Membership - as a whole - from Spamming etc., if the Members then persist in placing genuine e-mail addresses on the Board, for the Spammer to harvest at will???????[?]

Please Note and take to heart the following advice:

Never place a genuine e-mail address on these Boards.

If You must do so - please disguise or mutilate it.

Instead of @ use AT. instead of . use DOT.

Instead of Bob AT Here DOT com - use ACWGCBob AT here DOT COMunity.

Etc.

Think smart Peeps! [8D] Use Your Imagination!!![;)]

A few extra seconds spent during the composition of Your post could save You or another Member, 100's of nuisance e-mails from Degenerate Scum.

If this current Trend continues . . . The Cabinet will be approached regarding sanctions, including exclusion from the Boards for periods of time, to be taken against such "Thoughtlessness."

You have been warned!!!! [:o)] Mwaaaa ha ha ha haaaaaa! [:D]

There are two concerns. First, non-members that use forums to SPAM email accounts, using the email feature . This can be prevented, for the most part by requiring registration.

The other is the picking up email addresses from posts.

The method of disguising email addresses, mentioned above, will work to help slow down or stop using these forums to create SPAM.
