I notice that HPS has been basically reissuing the old titles like Gettysburg, Shiloh, and Chickamauga uner the Campaign Series.

Can we expect a Campaign Antietam and even a Campaign Bull Run?

Antietam was always my favorite battle to play, even using historical release rules and such and I hope to see an update of those two old TS titles.

Hi,

On the other hand, Corinth, Ozark, Vicksburg and Atlanta were never done in BG. I used to like the South Mountain battle on the Antietam disk. Wasn't easy for the Rebs to win that one though.

I think that Antietam and Bull Run are pretty much inevitable, the question is simply when. Not only how long before the next game (with the recent rush, it may well be awhile) but will those games come before or after C'Ville, the Valley or the Overland Campaign?

What Yank doesn't like the prospect of a 2-to-1 numerical advantage in a battle? [:D]

Since we already have all of the maps necessary for an Antietam campaign I'm sure it will come. Only need a few new maps for a Bull Run campaign or Fredricksburg/Chancellorsville campaign or Overland campaign.

Gents,
Antietam remains my favorite Battleground Game, and I still play it occasionally. As long as we're speculating, how about a Mexican War campaign? Been reading up on it, and sometimes play the custom scenarios that came out a few years back. That whole war is a rich ground for the "Campaigns" concept.

I, too hope for both of those battles. Since I'm not all that patient, sooner is better![:D]

I wonder, though, based on the fact that the maps for that area were done by one designer (Doug Burke? who did Gettysburg), does that preclude other designers from working on those battles, etc.??? In other words, Rich has been busy pushing out a few titles, but we couldn't even get a Gettysburg patch until just recently. Based on how HPS is set up, I wonder if the delay in those battles are a result in the fact that a particular designer is tied up.

Not trying to sound critical, just always wondered about that aspect of things...

It is my understanding that the game designer is resposible for the updates, in the case of Gettysburg that was Doug Strickler (not Doug Burke, Gen Laub).

As to whether the designer has control of the maps he makes that's an interesting question as Rich Walker did Franklin, Shiloh and Chickamauga and they share some maps.

Actually, the numerical advantage is offset by the historical release times. Which is why I will only play that way at Antietam.

It is one of the most inriguing battles of the war and I'd love to see a campaign built around Lee's first drive North.
