It is with pride, trepidation, respect, nervousness, honor, and reluctance that I hereby award the Distinguished Service Medal to Lt Colonel Larry Quick, CSA.

A Union General rewarding a Confederate Light Colonel shouldn't happen, but the facts are this - Larry's service to this Army is unquestionable, and we'd be hurting without his efforts in website maintenance both at the Union War College and the Army of the Potomac.

So, for a change, we'll give three cheers to a Reb, and fire our 21 gun salute out to sea, instead of pointed South, as per my Standing Orders for all such occaisions.[:D] Immediately afterwards, it's business as usual - kick his butt all over the battlefield![}:)]

Thanks, Larry!

Sir

Please recall that upon discovery of his most foul treason Lt Quick was executed at the Union War College in a tasteful ceremony that included a passable Bordeaux with the supper (the beef was a bit dry, but the fish was superb). As such the awarding of a posthumous medal is entirely in order and in keeping with the fine traditions of the Union.

Of course it is possible that upon learning that Lt Col Quick has received this high Union honour the Rebs will hold a similar ceremony, perhaps with more lasting effect than we seem to have managed.

In honour of this occasion the urinals atop Lt Quick's grave will be removed for a full week commencing midnight tonight, and all personnel are to use the spitoons provided for the duration of the honours. Normal expectory practice will resume as of midnight a week hence.

Lt Quick, we salute you /oo

Very appropriate, very deserved, very unthinkable, very good strategy. This oughta make General Moose so jealous that he'll knock off Notso and eliminate one more Reb for us. Lets just hope that General Moose doesn't bring Lulu back to do it. Who said that General Laub wasn't a thinking man's General ... oh, it was Notso that said that.

Congratulations, Notso. Your contributions to this club have been in the over and beyond category. If we could just clone you ... shudder, that thought made my hair stand on end. There can be only one Notso.
