Post subject: | Help Out the Afghan National Police |
Friends on Both Side of the Gaming Club: I am writing this in hopes that you will be able to support my son, 1st Lt. Jonathan Tisdale, who is currently serving over seas in Afghan. His is has decided to adopt a local law enforcement unit and their families. See attached email from him: Subject: Help out the Afghan National Police >Date: Wed, 13 Jun 2007 14:20:55 -0400 We've been in country for almost two months now and things are progressing fairly well. We are working with the Afghan National Police from Police District 16 in Kabul, participating in dismounted and mounted patrols and surveillence operations. I'm happy to say that so far, our experience with the ANP have been very productive; as they are proud of their country, their service to their country, and are eager to learn from us. The ANP is making a difference in Afghanistan...However, they and their families face danger daily. ANP officers are 30 times more likely to be killed by anti-governmental forces than their Afghan National Army counterparts. Their pay as well, is less than the ANA counterparts. ANP officers bring home $30 a month, where as an ANP chief brings home $80. Providing for themselves, much less their families, is challenging. The soldiers of B/202d Cavalry have decided to adopt the officers and families of Police District 16. We are requesting for the officers, black military or police boots, notebook pads, socks, hygeine items, etc. We also hope to care for the ANP's families, especially children. Adult clothes, cooking supplies, hygeine items, toys, children's clothes, school supplies, crayons, etc. are all welcomed. If you would like to help us out, you can email packages to us at: Jon Tisdale D Co SECFOR, 218th BCT Camp Phoenix, APO, AE 09320 Or the B/202d Cavalry Family Readiness group at: Family Readiness Group B/202d Cavalry 1 Cavalry Lane Beaufort, SC 29901 Thanks for ANY help you can give us. Jon Tisdale If you can or if you know of a church group, armed forces unit or etc that would like to help, please do so. I know that it would be very appreciated by his unit and those receiving it. Thank you All… God Bless the USA Willie Tisdale "The Gray Fox" Lt. General Commandant - VMI - CSA |
