Post subject:  No AI in Chickamauga?

I thought I would fool around with a practice game of the new 'Chickamauga' Disk. So I selected the Missionary Ridge Historical scenario and chose Confederate as the human player.

I had determined in advance to play conservatively and let the Yanks come at me. Well, I clicked and clicked and clicked and clicked. (Key Word here is clicked). Anyway, absolutely nothing happened and I gave up after 20 turns. The AI Union did nothing but fortify a couple of units and not even attack.

Not that the AI is something I use much, but is there no more AI in the new HPS titles? Would be nice to know this in advance.

Try some of the games specifically designed for A/I play. Scenarios:
111-121.

Most of the others use the dynamic A/I, but some have no A/I. So thanks for your observation. I am going through them now and making sure that they all have at least the dynamic A/I if not a scripted A/I. Scripting is useless for the larger scenarios.

BTW,

I checked Atlanta, and all seem to have either a scripted A/I or a dynamic A/I.

Also, there are 5 scns specially designed for A/I. Scenarios 128-132. Make sure your play the defender.

Rich, can you let me know what 'dynamic' AI is? I take it that scripted must mean that the designer used specific geographical objectives for specific units in creating the scenario. Is "Dynamic AI" explained anywhere in the rules?

It's in the manual somewhere, but in short, it tells the A/I to attack or defend. It can be either cautious or reckless.
