The manual states:
"A unit may be eligible to recover Fatigue at the beginning of a player’s Movement Phase provided it has not Moved, Fired, participated in Melee, or been Fired upon with any effect from the time of the player’s previous Movement Phase."

If a unit is otherwise eligible to recover fatigue, will simply changing formation make it in-eligible? Does changing formation count as movement?

If I can tag onto Bill's question, in addition to whether changing formation makes it ineligible for fatigue recovery, is it also rendered ineligible if the unit is in the process of building breastwoks?

..And what about changing facing? I would think that all these things ought to prevent fatigue recovery but I'm not sure if they do.

<font face="Book Antiqua"><font size="4"><font color="limegreen">Gents, if I may, from all that I have experienced, any sort of movement at all, ie, changing facing, changing formation, deploying/recalling skirmishers, they all use movement points. Now as far as building breastworks, if your unit has zero fatigue, it will not acquire any more but neither will it recover fatigue.

I always try to recover fatigue at night and then attempt to build breastworks, but that is not always possible. I don't have any idea if the level of fatigue effects the units ability to construct breastworks, although I would think that a unit which is in high fatigue (over 600) would have a difficult time.

I have always wondered at the formula for breastworks (BWs) building as I have seen 'A' units with no fatigue take longer or not at all to build BWs while lesser units do. Does stacking with a leader or being out of command effect a units ability to build BWs?

Regards,

Well then, as straightforward questions to some representative of HPS, so we can rely on the answer:

Does the condition of building breastworks prohibit fatigue recovery?

Does the condition of having skirmishers deployed prohibit fatigue recovery? (as opposed to the act of deploying/recovering skirmishers, which uses movement points)

Can disrupted or routed units recover fatigue?

Are there any factors besides firing, being fired on, or using movement points, that prohibit fatigue recovery?

The main thing about building breastworks is the size of the Unit. A 700 man unit will take a short time, maybe one turn. A 45 man unit may never finish.

Other factors have no bearing.

Rich . . .

Please see the discussion below which begs the question of what affects fatigue recovery. Thanks!

Hi,

Ran a test in HPS Peninsula and this is what I found:

1) Units in skirmish formation or disrupted recover fatigue.

2) Units entrenching or routed do not.

3) Units using movement points fo anything, including deploying
skirmishers, incur the night fatigue movement penalty.

Hope this helps.
