I know this is an age old problem and where to get the patches for Chickamauga and the XP patch. But I can't get the game to load from the CD so I can apply the patches. It partially loads from the auto installer and then locks up. I searched the forum but can't find the instructions on how to do this though I know I've seen it (long ago). I successfully manually loaded all of the BG Chickamauga folder files but when I try to copy those in the disk's CH sub folder she locks up. Help...

Try using the SETUP.EXE from the CD. In Explorer, go to the main files and find the setup file.

Go to the below address for the XP patch.

http://www.hc-llc.net/games/patches.html

The XP patch is only a ZIP file that replaces the BGC.EXE file, so there is NO installation of the patch.

Also, I do not know what you mean by "locks up". Is there an error message? Do you have to reboot?

Thanks Ernie,
When I run set.exe it goes the same way:
After going through the questions up front (agreement, file location...) I get a box that says
Unistaller setup failed to initialize. You may not be able to uninstall this product.
No problem, I clik OK and the files start loading (3 bars and a progress bar). When it gets to 21% it stops and another box pops up:
An error occurred during the move data process: -117
I click OK and wait several minutes and another box pops up:

ComponentMoveData had the following error:
Media Name: DATA
Component: Battle Files
File Group:
File: D:\Battle~5\ch\jump1.bmp
Error Number: -117

When I try to load the files with copy/paste this is also where I have trouble (when I get to the jump map files).

When you say you try a copy/paste you are also having errors? What kind?

You should be able to copy the files from the CD to a folder on your harddrive. If the copy works try that then run setup from your harddrive. Change the compatibility mode of the setup.exe and maybe some of the other exe's to pre XP OS like Win98.

Problem resolved. Thanks for the help. I was trying to make it harder than it was. Files loaded, patches added and new bgc.exe file and my division is back on the move at Chickamauga in a Hill Challenge. I wish I got such good service from IT at work!

Jerry
