On a bright but cold day in Virginia, a ceremony was held to hand over command of the Army of the Shenandoah. After nearly 2 years on the job, General Ken Miller was relieved by his Chief of Staff, General John Corbin. General Jeff Bangma, Eastern Theater commander, was the guest of honor for the ceremony.

During the speeches, General Miller was lauded with praises for the efficiency and effectiveness of his Army and for his excellent leadership abilities.

General Miller was also presented with the Medal of Honor for his outstanding leadership of his Army on the battlefield.

General Corbin was also singled out for his willingness to continue the fine traditions of commanders at the AoS. I have every confidence in John and his abilities, and look forward to him rejoining the ranks of the Army Commanders.

Let me close by thanking Ken for all he has done for me and our fine Army - he is a first class commander and leader who has devoted a great deal of his extraordinary talents to this Club. Thank you, Ken!

Warmest Regards,

First I want to thank everyone for the kind words and Gen Laub for the shiny new medal.

I have been a member of this club since Jan 2000 and enjoyed myself so much when I first joined that I just had to do what I could to keep it going. I've especially enjoyed the last two years as commander of the AoS. Sometimes it has been a lot of work but I think we've accomplished a good bit both for the union army and for the AoS and I've enjoyed being a part of that. However it is time for me to step back, take a break for a while and recharge my batteries. After completing a few final reports I plan to take the next couple months off and just play games.

Now if you gentlemen will join me at the bar we'll get this party under way.

Gen. Ken Miller

My congratulations to Ken, and thanks for the excellent work he's done. The AoS has indeed been fortunate in its leadership. Not to mention that Ken was running the Tessier match for those two years as well. He should get two MoHs.

Good succession planning as well. Thanks to John for stepping up, and I look forward to his leadership.

Thanks for all your work, Ken. You have been an inspiration for me ever since I joined your corps as a fresh 2nd Lieutenant in Spring 2001.
