It is my proud honor to announce the promotion of Bill Spitz to BRIGADIER GENERAL!

It's quite the momentous occaision to receive that first star, and as such, General Spitz has graciously opened his bar tab to all comers to drink a toast or five in his honor![:D]

Barkeep, make mine a double - no wait - a TRIPLE!

Huzzah, and Congrats, General Spitz![^]

About time you Yankees offered to buy a round, in fact the ole Rosie's is falling into dispair. The last time I visited the place had cob webs through out and the dust was an inch thick in places. What I thought were skylights were cannon shots from our guns. Anyway congrats General Spitz on your well deserved promotion <SALUTE> I'll have a tall sweet tea.

Respectfully,

Since I know that on several occasions I have contributed to the points necessary to achieve this Star, I will drink to this promotion! Gramps is truly a Gentlemen and why he isn't wearing the Grey of the South is beyond me as Bill is a good Southern Boy from Maryland!

All the very best Bill and thank you for being a member of this great gaming Club and I am looking forward to the day I get to shake your hand!

The tavern door opens and the rush of chilly night air carries the particular odor of cigar smoke, horse sweat and damp leather as the commander of The Calvert Line enters.

The aging general scans the room....several blue and gray clad figures are face down on tables and snoring contently, the only sign of life, Claude is busily cleaning up from the recent festivities.
"Well Claude seems I'm late as usual...if Brig.General Spitz's tab is still hold'n up I'll take a bottle of your finest and do some celebrating myself."

The general takes a silver flask from his vest pocket and carefully fills it from the bottle. Spying the newly minted General Spitz awaking from his slumber, he lifts the flask in a toast "Congratulations Bill......he takes a healthy swallow then returns the flask to his pocket. Standing to leave "excuse me gentlemen, my command is marching at day break and there is still much to do, we'll have to do this again some time"[:D]

Beer?? Did I hear someone say free beer!?![:p][:p]

Bill, as your first Confederate opponent in this club, let me also give you my congratulations! Remember, any time you and your 3rd Division, I Corps AoP boys want to take on me and my 3rd Division, III Corps ANV boys, we are game.

Congrats again

Gentlemen,

I thank you all for your kind words of congratulations. One of the great joys of life is the comradeship that is found in this club. I have enjoyed all that I have met, through e-mail or in person and look forward to our continued friendship and to the opportunity to meet more and more of you.

I've told them at Rosies to keep my tab going a bit longer.
