Here are some other great reads:

Grape and Canister by L. VanLoan Naisawald, a history of the the Artillery of the Army of the Potomac;
The Sword of Lincoln by Jeffery Wert, a history of the Army of the Potomac;
Nothing But Victory, by Steven E. Woodworth, a history of the Union Army of the Tennesse;
No Greater Courage, by Richard Croker, a historical novel on the Battle of Fredricksburg;
The Memoirs of Ulysees S. Grant, his autobiography;
and Pickett's Charge by George Stewart.

All of these books cover their subjects in wonderful detail and all flow like novels.

Just finished reading "Plenty of Blame to Go Around" by Eric Wittenberg. It is a detailed account of Stuart's ride during the Gettysburg Campaign and what might have led to it. Pretty interesting.

Just readL "Passing of the Armies" by Joshua Chamberlain. His style is sometimes difficult to read but his discription of the last days of the war and the surrender ceremony are woth reading.
Also I found Sherman's memoirs an excellent read.

<br />I found Shermans Memoirs simply showed he chose not to remember a lot....You can say that about most autobiographies. I said it was an excellent read not that it was an historically accurate one.

Sherman was never one to apologize for his actions during the war but it was interesting to read about his early days and his acquaintances with many future Confederate Generals.

General Nelms,

Looks like we were both reading Wittenberg this weekend. I was reading
"The Battles for Brinkerhoff's Ridge and East Cavalry Field". Well written little work (less than 200 pgs).
