Post subject:  Forge of Freedom-Comments???

I need a scenario list, with name and number of turn for the Forge of Freedom game, in order to make new game entries into the DoR!

The turns are fortnightly (2 per month and go until May,1865 I believe although I've never finished a game. they can extend longer if the players want. that would make 24 turns a year but they aren't numbered in the game itself. Tactical turns are 20 minutes/turn but they go on for two days I believe. these turns aren't numbered and the battles are named randomly?

As some of you will know, I'm one of the developers of "Forge of Freedom," and have posted here occasionally over the last year and a half. I am quite pleased to learn that ACWGC has made FOF an "authorized" game. If it would be helpful, I can answer questions here -- as opposed to the Matrix forum -- to help you adapt to the new game.

Looking over Drex's posts, I should add some comments:

1) The game does not automatically end in May 1865. If one plays with the "time limit" option toggled on (done on the setup screen) the CSA starts getting one Victory Point each month starting in January 1865. This is meant to simulate the CSA's becoming a de facto country by surviving long enough to be recognized as such by the rest of the world. So it's possible for the game to go into 1866, though this would be rare.

2) Turns are not numbered within the game, as Drex says. And since we have two scenarios, July and November, Turn 1 would be different for each scenario. (For the expansion we are hoping to do we will add new scenarios, starting with a Dec. 1862 "Fredericksburg" scenario that is partly finished.) However, the code itself DOES have numbered turns, since we needed a consistent way of having certain things happen around specific dates. According to this system, Early January 1861 is Turn 0, Late January 1861 is Turn 1, Early Jan. 1862 is 24, Early Jan. 1863 is 48, and so forth. So, for example, Phil Sheridan becomes a general and thus enters the game at Turn 40, which corresponds to Early Sept. 1862 -- regardless of scenario. So you might want to consider this system, even if the first 12 (July scenario) or 19 (November scenario) turns aren't played.

3) Battles aren't named randomly: they're named for the "province" (i.e., region) in which they're fought.

4) Detailed/tactical battles can last three days, not two.

Please feel free to let me know if you have other questions.

So, there are 5 scenarios. The total number of turns COULD be as many as over 96. So, the players would have to determine how may turns were played at the conclusion of their particular game, based on the GAME DATE of the ending, such as April 1, 1865, the number of turns would be 102.

If the scenario ended on Aug 15,1863, the turns would be 63.

Here would be the turns based on end date:
